B16A2 -> B18A1

I was looking into it and i was thinking about after market pistons and rods for my b18. i stumbled across an article about how the b16a2 has a 1.74:1 rod ratio compairied to the b18A1's 1.54:1 they have the same bore but the stroke is shorter (77 for the b16 and 89 for the b18). i was wondering if putting aftermarket b16 rods and pistons would be better then going with the b18 aftermarket rods and pistons. Also whot would happen if i did.

im guessing that the deck height is alot taller on the b18 as well, so i am guessing you'd drop the compression de-stroking the b18 like that.

it would drasticlly drop the compression, you dont want to do that, aftermarket b18 rods will be just as strong as aftermarket b16 rods....

putting b16 rods and pistons in will go higher than the deck

the b16 block is 8mm shorter then the b18

b16 rods are longer i do believe

Re: B16A2 -> B18A1

b16 - 134, b18 - 137 rod lengths

Re: B16A2 -> B18A1

in that case do it and shorten the block
but the really is no point

Re: B16A2 -> B18A1

Also stock the b16 has a c.r of 10.2:1 while the b18a1 has 9.2:1

Teh point is the rod ratio

Re: B16A2 -> B18A1

Anyone? im guess the cr will drop but not drastically and ill have the benifit of a better rod ratio.

that isnt de-stroking since the crank is staying the same, and i dont think there is a point to doing what they are talking about anyway

wrong! I learn that at my own expense, I ordered b18 rods when was building my b16 motor the pistons stick out of the block about a 1/8 of an inch, so I had to order b16 rods, and sell my brand new b18 rods for $100 cheaper than I paid for them.
