Why would you want to use a head that flows less?

I suppose you could do it but it seems so pointless, yes you would have to block off the oil passage in the block for vtec. but think about this, that combo is not going to make any more power than a zc or a z6 sohc motor. I understand not spending $4-500 on a b16 head to match the b16 block, but you can pick up a b18a block to match the b18 head for maybe $150, the b16 bottom/b18 head is gonna be a huge disappointment man seriously.

*edit* if you do decide to do it you will need to use b18 head bolts and and a b16 t belt.

I agree just get another ls block, they are dirt cheap. The only thing the ls has for it is the torque, which you would give up with the b16 bottom end. The only thing the b16 has is the high revs. I think you are trying to use the bad parts of each motor, so just like boosted b16 says you are making the equivelent to a zc or a z6 sohc. The dohc zc I had I bet would be better at least it liked to rev. Rebuild your block, or get another b18. I also rock the ls and the only thing that motor needs is a turbo to pull up to redline which it currently does not with no turbo.

I have an ls block I'd sell. Lol. I understand trying to make a cheap engine. But by time u r done and buy new gaskets u could have bought a used engine with just as much power.

But If u do it like said above u will need the b16 timing belt but also the b16 water pump.

I always wondered about this. but never found then need to even trying it. but I want to see how it works out. I hope you have at lest the better b18b head not the older, more restrictive b18a head.
