Default B16a vtec turbo? or B20 vtec turbo?

i currently have a stock B16a, i want to go boost. i want something in the range of 220-230WHP.
i want to run stock internals, or at least near stock
i have a TD04 turbo off a Mitsubishi Eclipse

will the stock B16a be enough to make that much power?
or will i need the B20 for this?
i will be running vtec
what slight mods to which engine will i need?
because i'm on a tight budget.

this build will be for an EK hatch, daily driven, for drag, autocross and touge.

can anyone suggest to me how to get there?

B20 has thin sleeves so it is not good for boost. The B16 however is very boost happy. With a good tune and the proper fuel upgrades 280-300whp is possible with a stock B16 and the proper turbo setup. The DSM TDO4 turbo is a good match for Honda motors. It will spool up quick but max out at around 12-13psi. SSAutoChrome makes a nice manifold for the TDO4 turbo on a B series.

The B16 will surely be able to make 230 with stock internals...but BE SURE TO TUNE IT WELL. Lots of research and learning is the answer to a good boosted setup. I have made around 290 dependably on multiple cars with a totally stock B16a (almost 40k miles and counting on a daily driver)

As for the B20..boost will kill these motors quick, they also like to burn valves...stay away...
