Yea true but you need to modify A to fit B by drilling so do you need to plug C to make it A? I believe you guys i just hough I heard it wouldn't work right but i think it may have been a B20 head on a B16

Because you can piece together a B16 nontec for like $300-400 and with turbo who cares if the head flows like a sack. B16 rods are thicker than B18 but you can get LS heads for dirt cheap. The comments about me being a D series lover and my username both apply also

Looks like i might be in the same boat as you dude...goin to check out a b16a block in a few minutes for dirt cheap. Keep posting up info about this guys if ya know it...this is def. gonna be a first one for me :1 What about swapping in a set of pr4 pistons? (integra LS) According to the calculator it puts out a low c/r...8.32:1, but with a monster turbo it might not be too bad

What pieces did you use to assemble this? I talked to a machinist today that builds mostly high power honda motors, and all he could really tell me was that i'd probably have to use the b16 headgasket and maybe a gsr timing belt. He also said that the c/r should be lower than the 9.9:1 that the calculator says...somewhere near the 9:1 mark according to him, but i think he's just as lost as i am.

you use the headgasket for the head. ergo the ls gasket. And you would use teh LS timing belt also. I'd use a B16 water pump though....with the 22teeth.

I just lined up the LS HG on the b16 block and this is what i got...it'll fit, but there is one oil return hole that isn't covered by the gasket. This is probably the return in the head that everyone has to tap and plug in order to do ls/vtec. The other ish is the dowels...the b18a1 dowels don't fit the b16a block. I suppose i could open up the dowel holes in the block to get them to fit in, or i could use the b16a dowel pins and fill in a little on the LS head to get them to fit. I still need to get my old b18 out of the car to see how well the timing belt is gonna line up. No sense in ordering a new belt if it won't fit :1 Keep on posting up more info guys...it looks like this is probably gonna be a reality for Nonvtec and me. Oh, one last thing...my b16a block didn't have an oil pump on it...what pump should i run with it? I could probably get away with using my LS pump, but i'm not sure if it would be a good idea. Wonder if those nice oil squirters might help keep my pistons cool under boost too

For accesories and pumps I would keep it strictly vtec since they flow better than LS stuff. I was curious about the HG too, I havent done much research but have always wondered because it would be a nice cheap build that could hold some serious boost.

Yeah, i'm pretty much gonna keep the accessories b16. Having a hard time trying to order up an oil pump though, somehow the one on my block was pirated before i got it. The LS HG will work perfectly for this setup though...get the 3 layer MLS one to help keep the c/r down, and tap and plug the one oil return in the back of the block that the HG and head doesn't cover. I think for the dowel pins I'm going to have some brass tubing machined down...one end a smaller diameter to fit the b16a block, and then jump to the larger diameter to fit the LS head. This way if i ever do come across a vtec head in the future, all i have to do is remove the plug, change the the appropriate HG, and change the dowel pins back to stock b16a ones
