b16 to d16

okay my b16 is pissing me off so imma drop a d16y8 or a z6 if i can find one.

I was wondering if its still a direct bolt in i knoe it is but imm wondering about the b16 mounts does it need to be welded back to dseries mounts or does it even matter ?? and i just hook up one o2 sensor and tape the other up??

Welded?!? ??? WTF kinda car did you stick this motor in? Last time I checked most honda motor swaps were simplified to bolting on different engine and tranny mounts :P

Re: b16 to d16

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you bought the car with the swap already done... ::) Alright, here's the skinny...you're gonna need a dx or si driver's side mount (along with the mount piece that bolts to the block on a dx or si from 88-91), manual trans rear mount (b16 rear trans mounts actually bolt to the automatic tranny bolt holes), a cable clutch d-series trans, stock 88-91 shift linkage, rear trans mount that bolts to the tranny, new axles, passenger side trans mount, d-series exhaust manifold, and then you have to figure out whether you're going to stay obd0 or convert up to obd1 to run a z6 or a y8 properly. Your b16 ecu will run them, but it'll run like total ass...too much timing and too much fuel. That's just the beginning, I'm sure there's quite a few things I forgot to mention. Stick with your b-sux-teen and learn how to fix it. Trying to swap in a d-motor again without having any idea what you're doing will end you up with a car laying around in pieces that will never be driven again. :X

Re: b16 to d16

yeah the car was my older brothers . ive been trying to fix it but not getting anywhere, just has a real bad idle that i cant seem to fix and have no idea whats going on with it. i mean i have a general idea but cant find the problem. i think it might need a new motor but iono oil seems to be getting onto the spark plugs ?? valve seals?

Oh im familiar with the d series in an ef ive done a z6 in an 88civic dx two or three years ago , and loved it but sold it. just needed to refresh my mind up again, been awhile messing with cars like i used to.

might just sell it for 1500 obo

thanks

Re: b16 to d16

Bad idle could be a number of things...clogged fuel filter, injector clip not on all the way, bent valves, crank/cam gear timing wrong...the list goes on.

Re: b16 to d16

yeah i changed the fuel filter checked the fuel pump checked the timing tensioner spring checked all ground havent got to time it yet but i have put it to TDC but have no timing gun to really get the timing fixed . ive cleaned and tighten the FITV
