b series motors

are b series motors are interchangable.

example: b18 from 93+ into 91 teg, or b16 into 91 teg, or b20 into 91 teg.

anyone know?

i've found a gullable slack jaw'd old man run'd junkyard, i want to get a newer b18, like the 93+ integras, 10 more hp i believe.

turbohf 05-13-2003 03:23 AM

Re:b series motors

get me one for a good price an i will tell you... :)

yes they are, you will just need to swap over wiring. but you probly wont get anymore hp unless you swap over ECU's too, which is a complete bitch...

J-SMITH69 05-13-2003 04:00 AM

Re:b series motors

do the 91 and 93s use different fuel injection systems?

turbohf 05-13-2003 04:34 AM

Re:b series motors

yeah in 92 they went to OBD1 system. but the engine its self is about the same, think it has a couple extra sensors/emssions crap. just swap your intake manifold and i think you will be fine...

Re:b series motors

the non-vtec b18 motors that have 10 more hp are the 94+ ones.

90-93 = b18a
94-2000/1 ? = b18b

Re:b series motors

Johhny you best bet would be a longblock B20z, and just swap the intake manifold from your B18 on it..

Re:b series motors

Where is this junkyard your talking about? I wouldn't mind getting a good deal on a b-series motor.

red91sit 05-13-2003 06:39 PM

Re:b series motors

Almost all b's are interchangeable The B-20 and B-21 in the 3g prelude are not interchangeable. there more easily swapped with H-22's than other b's.

Re:b series motors

Correction:
90-91 B18A=130hp
92-93 B18A=140hp
94-?? B18B=142hp

;D

Re:b series motors

b18a1 130hp
b20z 146hp

now really worth the extra money

Re:b series motors

I dunno projekteg... my "D"15b N/A sohc vtec civic has been known to own most B16/b18 civic/integras around these parts (southern cali) ;)

Re:b series motors

Used2baracer: BS flag ^ It's possible, but here in cali you are a rare gezel. I could be wrong, but........ :-X

Hey Steathmode. In the case that you have a N/A Honda (SOHC/DOHC/STOCK - All the same to me) this will most likely be the view you have:

http://used2baracer.brinkster.net/no...tealthmode.jpg

At that point, you would probably like to know what the front looks like. Due to the fact that you probably wouldn't catch up, I will simply show you the face of the Dicklayer 9000 (as some in the know call it).

j/k mann... I'm sure ur car is cool/fast/etc,etc.

although the peak numbers arent significant, i hear the torque is. remember its not peak numbers its the area under the curve that counts.

Re:b series motors

If that's the view I'd have..... I'm probably drunk cause your license plate is really blurry. ???

J-SMITH69 05-18-2003 09:23 PM

Re:b series motors

aw used2bracer, that car isn't very fast and you know it :)

used2baracer 05-19-2003 02:21 AM

Re:b series motors

yeah.... ur probably right... but it is the quickest N/A sohc motor I've seen without internals. Anyway, I've had it in autotrader for the last 2 weeks and I finally sold it today (Sunday) for $5600. I think that will provide some nice funding for project Home-made-turbo b18b into my 2000 Civic. Speaking of which, does anyone have a obd2b -> obd1 ecu jumper they're looking to get rid of?

J-SMITH69 05-19-2003 02:39 AM

Re:b series motors

so what mods are done to it? besides the spoon badge
its defintaly not close to fast if you haven't made it high compression and its NA

projekteg 05-19-2003 01:00 PM

Re:b series motors

and why are you putting a ::)b18 into your civic when your sohc "owned" most of the b series anyways??

I said it's the "Quickest SOHC w/o Internals." That means it's probably not high compression due to the fact that IT DOESN'T HAVE INTERNALS DONE... but anyway it had full bolt ons, and why would you waste time making a d15b high compression???. That's like trying to make power through port & polishing a CRX HF motor. The reason I bought the car was to sell it for more than I bought it and have a little fun while I did it. It wasn't to make a Drag car, but to make a car that was really quick on a MAD Budget (Like $3500). And thats what I did... ;D

Projekteg, I'll assume you don't know this because you are an "Integra" guy, but an EG (94) Civic is considerably lighter than a EK (2000) Civic. As you should have learned in your basic science class, more weight requires more power to be propelled equally as fast as an object with less weight/less power. My white civic was gutted to hell, with a carbon hood and 12 lb rota rims, allowing me to beat most other car's with more power. In my 2000 Civic, I have a system and 17" Chrome rims w/full interior. Lastly, I said I will turboing the car - now would you rather have a turbo'd d15b or a turbo'd b18b ;)

J-SMITH69 05-19-2003 02:56 PM

Re:b series motors

so the spoon sports badge is bullshit?

the spoon civics rev to 13k and make about 300hp NA.

You forgot about the Red Type-R "H" Badges. The CTR makes over 170hp and revs over 8000 RPM. More "bullshit". I guess I should have named it the "Bullshitter" instead of the Dicklayer huh??? ;D

yeah, i think so too

Re:b series motors

Projekteg/Random Strike - Out of curiosity, what kind of cars do you drive, what do you have done to them, and what kind of performance do they have (1/4 mile times, hp). I mean, the way you guys keep dissing me, either A. You got some really fast ---- (like under 14 sec 1/4mile), B. You are gay and went to hmt.com instead of homo.com C. You have a little Dick complex (at some point in your life, you got hurt i.e. a girl calling your dick small or your preacher mollested you, etc.) and now you feel the need to make everyone else feel small. I don't know what makes you guys such assholes, but you should seriously make an appointment with your psychologist and/or preacher for some help and stop acting like 2 little biyatches.

Show the current picture of you using the camaro as a work bench. How many years did it take your dad to build those motors for his car? ha ha :P
