Avid cable/hydro conversion mount fits like crap in my eg - Help

I swapped in a b16 with a s1 cable tranny into my 94 hatch today. I bought the Avid cable to hydro kit on ebay. The cable to hydro adapter seems to work fine but the billet mount does not line up at all.

#1 - minor problem - the underside of the mount had to be ground somewhat to get it to actually sit flat on the tranny bolt bosses.

#2 - major problem - The portion of the mount with the rubber in it (bolt goes through to hold it to the frame) seems to be about 1" too far toward the front of the car - WTF! I am using a stock gsr front and rear mount.

Has anyone else had this problem? I seem to remember reading on here (before the search crashed) someone else had to do some grinding to the underneath of the mount. I need to drive this car on Monday!!

You sure they sent you the right kit?

Yes,
It specifically says "92-95 civic" right on the factory sticker on the box - unless the box was packed wrong at the factory? The cable/hydro conversion part fits fine and works fine it is just the mount that is a no-go without serious mods.

No this car was always a standard. I would like to know if anyone has actually used this mount successfully. I think i have figured out the best way to modify it to work. I will call Avid on Monday to see what they will do for me. I sent them an email yesterday and it was returned "undeliverable due to full inbox" That may not be a good sign....

can you show pics of this installed?
I am thinking of doing this also, I 2 options, 1 get the conversion kit, or 2 swap out the internals to a hydrolic housing.

how does this work, I notive the cable tranny is missing the front mount(torque mount) that hydrolic tranny has. how does it stay in place during hard acceleraation? I ran the b16 tranny without it installed and the motor hit the hood.

Yeah cable b-series trannies are cheaper but after the adapter kit you could of just gotten the a hydro tranny and screw doing all this adapter kits. I never got that ----. :S

Well when alot of people break trans left and right aka 10 sec cars or faster a cable trans for 250-350 is alot more appeling than 650+ for a hydro

A few of the fastest Hondas in the world back in the day ran cable B trans in 92+ cars

---- I've already gotten 2 cable trannies for free, I ended up paying 600 for a busted up hydro one that just took a ----, so the work is worth it in a way

Well I phoned Avid this morning and they said "oh yea we had a problem with that like a year ago." Send it back and we will replace it. Does not help me right away but looks like they might send me a new one to try.

A - this is where the mount did not fit properly on the tranny. I had to grind it on the underneath to get it to sit flat(ish) on the trans.

B - this part of the mount needs to be about 1" over towards the firewall. Will not line up with the mount bracket on the frame rail period.

Sent the mount back on Monday. I will let you know how long this takes to get resolved and what kind of customer service I get.

ha had the same dang problem with my brother inlaws tranny last spring. probably the thread you read. avid sucks major get your money back. After llike 800 miles the mount bushings are shot and squezing out the sides. and that motor never even saw track duty. the alingment issues also suck. we had to grind off about 1/2 inch on the one tranny bolt bottom. and shim another 1/2 with washers to make it all go in properly. like i said just get your cash back.

so the OG's at HASport with a quality product still rock?????

Or do you like ------- around with cheap ass copies and wasting your time.

Well..... knowing that I may not be happy with the service/replacement mount that I got from Avid i also bought the same type of mount from a company on ebay in Ontario Canada called "speedtrack racing". They were excellent to deal with and shipped me just the one mount for $50 + shipping. The mount arrived today and looks pretty good. I will update how it fit after I install - with pic.

Well it is now the 22nd and still have not received anything from Avid. - I sent the defective one back on the 7th. I was assured by "franklin" that he would take caree of it right away (7th) and get me back up and running right away. I phoned on Friday (20th) and someone else answered and could not tell me if they had received my old one in or if they had sent a replacement one out yet? He took my # and said he would find out and get right back to me. I never heard back.

The reality is this: It is almost 2 weeks later and if I wouldn't have bought the other company's mount I would still be out of commission. They seem to be nice and helpful on the phone but the actual measurable of their customer service is me being satisfied - I am pissed. In good faith I bought their product, it did not work as advertised, they really have not done anything to satisfy me or fix my situation.

Update,
In case anyone cares... or is considering buying this mount, the new one did show up and is completely different from the orig POS. The new one did fit fine and the cable to hydro adapter is now just like the Hasport one with a heim joint instead of a drilled piece of stock. The clutch action is alot smoother.
