Default arp rod bolts

i just ordered some of these for my mini-me rebuild

should i overtorque them? and how high can i safely rev? i was making pretty good power up to 7500 kicking in vtec a little late, would i be safe to go on and take it to 8 or so if i can find a cam that'll make power there?

IMO I would just torque them to spec.

As far as revving high I would think it depends more on your valvetrain than anything else.

kicking in vtec a little late?
if u have a stock cam you were losing power kicking late and reving high

btw arp rod bolt torque specs are behind the box

i was kicking it in around 5100 or so, but i never had time to take it to the dyno before i managed to spin a rod bearing when the oil pickup tube vibrated loose. so i wasnt able to tune for a good vtec x-over. i havent picked up the rod bolts from the machine shop yet, they should be in tomorrow. im just asking for a general guide as to how high i can safely rev.

so the y8's head wouldn't take 8k? would it be a valvespring or a retainer failure, which one is weaker?

stock honda retainers are decent at high rpms your valve springs are your issue

A Y8 with a stock cam probably makes peak power at 6500 and torque falls hard at 7000, so reving to 8 grand is really pointless.

Z6 VTEC kicks in at 4800 WOT, would read 5100 rpm on a stock tach.........

Currently I'm running the biggest NON Vtec Crane cam to 8000 rpms on stock springs that have 150,000 miles.

Crane designed the ramp rates to be somewhat sane and not require stiff springs, which then to hammer the seats.

your not worried about valve float?

thats nuts to run an engine 8k-rpm w/stock spings that have 150k miles on them?
why did'nt you change them when you were in there
