Default Another mini me post...

Yep, I've got some questions too...
1- I've got the distributor coming with the head, do I use it or the a6? Will my jacobs cap fit the z6 dist. or do I need new one, so I can order now. 2- I NEED a new timing belt, I assume because the z6's is longer. DAMN my a6's belt is brand new. 3- The head gasket, I don't like the thought of running my turbo with 10.8ish comp ratio. Greddy doesn't have a 2mm z6 gasket Who makes a stackable or thicker gasket? Why can't I use an A6? 4- I've got a complete zc intake in my basement, do I use it for the torque gains? I know the mini uses the a6 in most, but i've heard the zc has better flow. And finally, emissions tests, problems? I don't have to worry about the visual, girls dad has shop, but he won't sticker if it doesn't pass, no cheating.

let see here
1. use your a6 distributor( it must be modified though) i dont think you can use your z6 dist unless you change to obd1.
2. yes you need the new timing belt from a z6. actually the a6 belt is longer.
3. compression withe the z6 headgasket should be 9.9:1 or 10:1. still good for boost. dont use the zc intake. and i dont think it will pas smog unless you got like an afc to lean out the fuel mixture.
hope that helps. i just finished my minime turbo and wow it hauls ***. good luck!

modify the ditributor I don't like the sounds of that. That's what the site said, to use the a6 with some big washers or something stupid like that. In the Gheeetttttoooo. So, basically, I've got a useless intake and a useless distributor. Great. I love spending money on ***** I'll never use. Is there any to remove the mounting plate of the z6 and put it on the a6 dist? If I don't need it I can chop it up I guess. Are there any other ways, besides that washer crap? I am an obsessive neat freak, I'd like it as clean as possible. At least I don't need a new dist. cap, that's one good side I suppose. Another question, does the zc f.p.r. have a higher setting then the a6, I might still use the fuel rail and all, even if I can't use the whole intake. A6 belt is longer.? The site says the z6 belt is super tight, true?

Cleanest way to do it would be convert your car to OBD1 and use the Z6 distributor, but there's a lot of wires that need soldering, and most people just stick with the A6 distributor. ZC intake won't fit the Z6 head, or so I'm told...not sure about the FPR, but my guess would be that they're the same.

i'm gonna go with the adjustable fpr and guage. how much soddering are we talking here... I'm not exactly an electrical genius, but if i can wire a house, i guess a car can't be that much harder I've got an exter a6 dist. I'm leaning towards trying to combine the a6 with the z6 mount plate. about what pressure should i set the reg. for the mini? any suggestions for a smooth swap would be much appreciated. Unforseen problems, things to watch for. Cams? does anyone make a z6 cam? I bought a jg4040 for my a6, another part I'll never use now...

its not that hard to modify the dist. you just have to make the bolt hole biger and it doesnt look ghetto.oh and you cant swap out the mounting plate, i tried beleive me. i dont know what siteyour looking at but when we put the z6 head on we putthe a6 belt over thegear just to see how it fit and it was loose as hell. i dont know who cares just use the z6 belt. unforseenthings, mmmm just wathc your timing make sure everything is at tdc when u do the swap.

Since one of the three holes dont line up, the washer just helps secures the dizzy to the head. Not hard at all...

ok, that's not that bad at all. That pic brought up another thought, vtec activation... Should I run the switch off the blue wire on the dist. or the + on the external coil of the jacobs? I was gonna go with the switch, just to get it hooked up, then get the controller before I start driving again. How much of a pain is the controller to setup. I know on stock vtec cars its just spliceing between a wire, but on the rex where do I start. I may just save and do it now.
