or is ARP really worht it?

im swapping my h22 head on an f22a block and boosting 12 psi...


ive heard mixed things, already have an OEM headgasket but i just wanted to know what you guys think

def def definitly go arp head studs...i will promise you your head gasket will leak like a bitch because your old studs are stretched like a bitch...im telling you its worth the money by far...

please explain^^^^^-if they're torqued down there tight how does the stretch matter except for weaking the bolt and the fact that u can screw up the threads in the block easier? seriously want to know not trying to be a dick( numerous engine builders use bolts rather than studs in cast iron blocks)
mainly because a bolt torqued down to the same specs as a stud w/ the same thread gets more clamping pressure

i was baseing my answer to his question on that he was useing his stock head bolts again...those would be stretched...not brand new ones...but i think that head studs are still better...1 because i heard they were stronger and 2 because they are sort of more of an adjustable deal because there will still be some thread after your first torque down to play with so later in time you can go back and re torque them in the future in case they might have stretch...

I won't use bolts on another turbo build. That super sweet burning coolant smell gets into the car right about 10psi and makes me want tacos. Studs it is.

stevemode is right, but if you're wicked ghetto and can't afford the hundred bucks like i couldn't when my y8 lifted the head, just over torque the bolts about 10-15 ft lbs, but since you're making a G series, buy the ------- studs.

Studs are better than bolts because they keep the force more linear. Bolts have torsional friction against what they are being torqued to, so they tend to "twist" as you torque them.

The reason I love my ARP's is Ii'm on my 3rd Headgasket now, they've already paid for themselves if I would have had to buy a new set of studs everytime. I dont know why I keep blowing them tho I think ur supposed to re-tourque the studs after a certian amount of time.
