FMU's are old skool, they were used in the earlier stages of boosting hondas, it has now been found that they are not actually very good for fueling, a much easier and cheaper way is to chip your own ecu and run that, www.pgmfi.org is your friend for the next couple of weeks to research on how to chip and tune your ecu, You will also see that a number of people on this site offer pre chipped ecu's on part exchange with yours, so all you have to do is send them your ecu and they will send you back a chipped one ready for you to drive on! Some other people on the forum offer tuning services so you just drive with your newly chipped ecu to their house/place, they plug there laptop into your Ecu and they tune it for you :D

Ok then i have another couple of questions for you all. Before i even start asking questions over a that site i figure that i should find out what motor i am going to build first. The more i learn the more i change my mind SO here is the final questions that i have. THANX a BUNCH guys for all the help i shall return once i am a ECU wiz.

1. was the d16A6 ever a USA motor if so out of what car and model?
2. as for the f22 series motors if i decide to go with this motor (8:8.1 compression ratio! WHOOT) what do i need to do to beef it up to handle alot of boost (btw what is ALOT of boost to you all?) What venders do you know of that sell forged pistons and rods and all the other goodies i need for this motor?

(if i can't find anything for the f22 series and the d16a6 is a usa motor then i will fo with that- if i can find nothing for either than i will go with the B18B1 motor because i know that it has a ton of stuff for it)

1. its gonna be really hard to understand how to do rom editing and tuning when you dont know jack ----, its gonna take countless nights of research to figure this ---- out if you want to do it right with a free rom editor like turboedit.
2.if you dont feel like spending all that time and you have some money check into having a shop do something like hondata, it cost a good amount of money, but keeps your effort to a minimum.
3. i have had a sohc zc motor in a crx, they claim its like 125 hp compared to the d16a6 si motor's 109 hp, but i can tell you right now thats a crock of ----, its the same ------- motor that has "zc" stamped where it should say d16a6, the sohc zc is out of a jdm civic wagon. you would be better off doing a fresh rebuild on the stock si motor (d16a6) and boosting that, it would save money and last longer boosted just on a stock re build, and be faster than a sohc zc boosted, because the motor is like new again.
4. with some sort of decent managment like turboedit, hondata or something similar thats tuned properly i would say 170-190 whp is attainable on like 8 psi from a mid sized t3.
5. fmu's and check valves suck my ass, if you go this route just know this, you better not run over like 6 psi, you better retard distributor timing all the way, and expect like 150 whp on the set up your gonna do, because you cant run a decent amount of boost or tune it its going to net a lot less hp, and finally expect a choppy transition to boost, its gonna spit sputter and generally run like dog ----.
good luck with your project......
