Default Am i a mentaly challenged or does this happen to others too?

I just read through all of the stickies and i am so confused ( i am not kidding) i have a head ache from all the info from all the links from all the stickies UG. and the search option i don't even know where to begin.

Ok i am sure some one has done the SOHC ZC motor.I will beusing a CRX with a manual tranny. you know what would be really simple for a guy like me - if anyone who has turbed that motor to get from 170 to 200 hp out of it and that is all. Can you please just tell me what you did. all this is just so damned cofusing. I am SO sorry for not understanding half this stuff i just don't want to get yelled at becaue the stickies were all about searching. GREAT i searched but what happens when you get so confused when you are so loaded with info that you don't know what to listen to?

PLEASE HELP A COMPLETE NEWBIE TO FUEL INJECTION. i am a carb guy i know carbs but not computers just give a guy a break PPPPPLEASE for the sake of my head - please......

Thanx for anyones support here.

What you need is to take it slow. Learn a bit at a time, not sure what you want to know so hard to help.

prolly not the best setup to copy but u can get an idea on what to do, jus search on turboedit as management and bigger injectors. learn slowly and read on everyones setups. look at how others made mistakes n dont repeat them... learn before attempting anything cuz you'll only regret learning from mistakes such as blown motors. learn from others past blown motors so you dont have to. goodluck and the search button is ur friend.

170-200?

Some sort of T3 variant, 450cc injectors and a chipped ECU w/Turboedit. It's tried and true, countless amounts of people on here run this exact setup or something similar. Don't expect to make groundbreaking numbers with the stock block, but it will meet your goals.

www.pgmfi.org is the place to look in regards to chipping your ECU. Just read the FAQ's in the Library section there, read the forums, and jump in with both feet, it's the only way you're truly going to wrap your head around things.

I agree. I'd come up with a basic parts list and just look each one up and see what they do. Once you have a grasp on things, start buying parts. When they show up, start doing test fits and start visualizing how it's going to go together. It is confusing at first, but you'll get it.

This is my favorite "how to" turbo.

1. what motor is he using in

http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html

and will the pipes change if i did the same thing for the crx (say if i droped that same motor in the crx) is that the d16a6 motor?

2. i do not understand the ecu editing stuff for the most part and i have read that turbo link before when i was looking at 1st gen integras their sit e had that. I understand that link but is there. I don't undertand what chipping my ecu is hwo to do it and so forth and i am not quite shure about anything when it comes to trubo edit- what is it is it free how do i use it where do i get it does it do dataloging what the heck is dataloging. These are questions to show how UTTERLY confused i am. yeah i can put the kti together easy and put it in and on but the computer stuff that is where is not only get fuzzy but heck i am not even there.... get my drift.

3. I also have heard of guys running like 40psi on their eclipes and not blowing themselves up. How the HELL is that even possible?

THANX a bunch guys! you know for not flaming me and all i get enough of that from my girlfriends gay best friend *shiver* ...ick.

Ok i just noticed this this guy is using somethin called "check valves" um if i use that do i need to use the turbo edit? If so then um where do i get one of these eh becuase that setup is REALY easy to make.

Thanx again all.

No check valves with turbo edit.Turbo edit allows your map sensor to read boost without throwing a code, where as if you were using a fmu etc you would need to trick the map sensor into thinking the engine was still NA.The engine managemnt seems a little overwhelming at first [personal exp.] but i spent hours at pgmfi reading stickies, faq and others posts and eventually I started to figure it out.Dont be in a rush to boost your car just take a few months and educate your self first as it is easy to make engine ending mistakes once you enter the world of boost.I downloaded turbo edit and started playing with it months ahead.Xenecron has a good write up on his site on how to make a basemap so you can get your car up and running with a nice safe rich air/fuel.I highly recommend Xenecron for all your ecu needs.I purchased a burner and ecu parts from him and parcticed burning stock chips to get the hang of the burner and it took a couple frustrating nights but i got the car up and running on a stock program so i knew once i was boosted it was 2 min to load my basemap on a chip and off for a test drive.

so are you telling me that i don't actually need to edit the code on the ecu i can just use the FMU setup like that guy on that site did with a check valves thing?

Why are you guys SO down on doing that i mean tricking that it is am NA? I mean you can still use a boost controller can't you? so it generally does the same thing except it seems with less hassel....

IF this is not so bad where do i get one of these "check valve" deallys?

FMU's are crude, unreliable and not optimal for power. You can use a FMU along with check valves for low boost like 4-5 psi but i really would not recommend it.They use a vacum source to detect boost and restrict the fuel return to jack the fuel pressure under boost[usually 12 psi fuel to 1psi boost].As you can imagine even with say 5psi your fuel pressure will be roughly 90psi[stock pres. 38psi] and that is hard on stock injectors and pumps.Using that method also leaves you no means to control ignition timing. For what it costs to buy a FMU and check valves you can chip a ECU and run Turbo Edit.
