Default Aftermarket valve springs with 1st gen b16 retainers

I hear the 1st gen b16 retainers are the strongest so I was wondering if I can use them with some JGE valve springs on skank2 stage 2 cams.
I dont feel like buying titanium retainers and replacing them every 10k.
I need some answers so if u dont know but u think u know someone that does callem up :P

My 1st gen b16 head has aluminum retainers and they are shiney.
My buddy has a 2nd gen b16 head and the retainers are a dark greyish color.
Which ones are better to use with aftermarket springs?
