hey guys I was wondering what any of you know about the Acura Vigor, made from 1992-94, sporting a 5-cylinder engine. It is listed at 176 HP and 170 lb-ft of torque. Were these VTEC engines by any chance? They put out a decent amount of power; more than most V6's from other car manufacturers (beauty of Honda). Anybody know anything about the reliability of this illustrious 5-cyl? The car weighs like 3100 lb, so it's probably not incredibly fast. Anybody ever heard of a modified one?

never heard of one being modded. 5 cyclinder engines just like all inline engines blow for NA power. 176hp is not a lot, most sedan v6s are in the 200 - 250 range.
one of my buddies has a 2001 mailbu, and its like a 200hp v6. and another friend has a 95 or something, i don't know exactly 3000gt, and it has ~210hp. and its a ------- DOG. slower than snot

yeah i know they aren't incredibly fast, but considering the first year, 1992, 176 hp wasn't bad. that 3000gt you mentioned is a dog because it's 3700 lbs, and that malibu is 10 years newer. I know that the early 90's Maxima's were considered to have decent pickup for a full-size 4 door, so I thought 176 would be fun. Oh well..... maybe I could buy one to put all my miles on

no I don't want it in my civic! I just wonder why acura only made it for 3 years, and why no one else makes a 5-cylinder that I am aware of. Probably not the easiest car to find parts for...

I5 engine is rather tempting, but there are people who mod it too. Cardomain has a ton of people who have a modded I5. the early V6 Legend with 2.7L had just 160 hp

probably had more tourqe though. was faster too, all luxury sedans have big engines and lots of tourqe. cause what old person wants to have to stand on the gas just to get moving?
