Default a6 block with Y8 head

Im looking to build up a block, right now I have a D16Y8, and i dont want the Y8 bottom end. I was thnking about buying an A6 block from Dan (Sinister), but would it be a pain to put the Y8 head on it? or are all D16 bottom ends the same?

Crank angle sensor should be in the distributor. A6/Y8 combos are pretty wicked...y8's have awesome combustion chambers very similar to GSR's. Only thing is y8 blocks suck :P Other nice thing about y8 heads is that if you are running obd0 the a6 distributor will line up on the y8 head with no mods. Just don't forget to pull out the oil jet out of the a6 block first, and you can use a y8 headgasket for even higher c/r if you want.

Y8 heads have square looking combustion chambers as opposed to the a6 ones. those are a bit more round.

Last y8 head combo i did was a d15b2 block with zc pistons, crane cam and a z6 headgasket (just a spare layin around). The thing actually cranks out some decent power running off a pw0 ecu, and now resides in a 91 4-door. Motor's goin on 3 years old, and one set of rings lol

i did a a6/y8 combo with a milled .009 head, head studs, eagle rods, je 9:1 pistons and that thing was awesome.(for a buddy of mine) He was whooping up on b16 del slo's slightly modded dsm's with the crappy geared dx tranny in his eg. used a skunk2 programmed p28 and a cheap intake with a stock exhaust even. we never got to put a header/exhaust, good clutch, better geared tranny or anything on the car....he sold the motor when he needed money.

you will need to wire the motor for whatever obd that your car is using. in my case we wired up for obd1. The block will not determine what OBD you need.
