A20 Question....

Re: A20 Question....
they work pretty good on boost. They tell me there are very very minor differences between a20a1 and a20a3 either should be fine for boost. You can put a fuel injected head and intake manifold on the a20a1 bottom end and itll be just fine. Youd be best off with the fuel injected head and a b16/b18 intake manifold and tb, the bottom bolts of the manifold flange line up with the head, you just need to redrill the top bolts and portmatch the head to it, the stock intakes are very restrictive

Re: A20 Question....
I have rebuild these engines and install them. If you are serious about this motor let me know I have tons exrta parts.
These engines are great in '86-'89 accord and preludes.
A20a1 carb. W/ 9.0:1 COMPRESSION
A20A3 EFI w/ 9.2:1 compression (the only difference in between motors piston dome ht.)
These motors are cast iron block w/ solid decks
But because the blocks are cast and the heads are aluminum the can have head gasket issues.
These engines are also 12 valve motors
If you want a good old school motor you are better w/ B20a5 from a late eightes prelude si
these engines have 16 valves and Dohc.
These are even to the relations b16, b18, b20z
hope this helps.

Re: A20 Question....
wow guys thanks for all the help!! I'm pretty sure i'm goanna end up taking the motor, and hopefully turboing it
Is there a way to keep the stock head and make it fuel injected?? I wanna spend as little as possible on this build and since the motor comes with the head installed I dont wanna have to buy one if i don't have too.
and what type of fuel management should i get (if any for 5 psi) I was thinkin either a chipped P06 (if possible) or pick up an Apexi controller for cheap off ebay...

Re: A20 Question....
the fuel injected cam is a little better than the carb cam (not too much really) but you might be able to use the carb head with the fuel injected intake manifold, i bet it will bolt up. The only problem is that the distributors are differernt from carb to fi and im not sure the studs are in the same location... prolly are but im not 100% sure of that. Converting to obd1 and running a p06 is an excellent idea, if you dont wanna do that an safc and btm with 450cc injectors should be fine. 5psi on this motor doesnt make a ton of power, youll get a smile on your face around 9-10psi, thats when you start making power. A T3 60/63 works great on this motor as well

Re: A20 Question....
well i'm pretty sure i'm goanna do it 92CXyD, what parts do you have for this motor, b/c I still gotta piece it together before I can even think about doing a turbo build lol.
On that note actually, will I need a thicker headgasket?? and what about headstuds.. I know i'm goanna want ARP's but do they make em for the A20?

Re: A20 Question....
stock headgasket and stock compression are very boost friendly but yes, headstuds i would reccomend for over 15psi boost, but if youre just gonna run 10-12psi or somthing on a stock bottom end then id say just run the stockers.
