Default 94+ Integra Axles on a 92 Integra

After the B16 Swap, I used the axles the guy gave me, Everything fits and I'm driving the car, but it keeps leaking gear oil from the intermediate shaft and the tranny. Is it because they are really not compatible, or could it be a seal.

Just need to know if I should use the 92 intermediate shaft, or if the 94+ intermediate shaft should fit.

Thanks
david

My understanding is that the difference between the 90-93 and the 94-01 is the int. shaft and the axles. The int. shaft on one gen is a male and the other is a female. (or something of the sorts)

If you use the int. shaft and axles from one gen to the other you're fine, but if you swap one gens int. shaft with the others' axles, then theres a problem.

Ok, that's all I know.

See my axles where all messed up and he gave me for free his axles also, they are the hasport set for b16 swaps on 92-95 civics. So I used his axles and his intermediate shaft, and it all seemed to work fine, until I put in the gear oil, the driver side, int shaft, started leaking. I took it to a mechanic, I have no time to mess with it right now, he put a seal in there, and it is still leaking.

I'm wondering if I should tell him to get a seal for a 94-95 DOHC del sol, not for a 92 integra, maybe they are different.

So as far as compatability I should be fine, I just probably need to get the right seal in there.

you need to use a seal for a 94-01 tranny then..... the passenger axle is the same 90-01...

How soon after he installed the seal did it start leaking? If it had been a few days it happens occasionally. A simple trick that most mechanics I know of don't do, is to grease the seal before axle installation. If it isn't greased, it can heat up and melt the rubber on the seal contacting the axle (very rare scenario, but it happens). But what more than likely happened is that he wasn't very careful putting in the axle, and nicked the seal, I'd bring it back to him, and tell him "WTF? its leaking again", and ask him to replace it.

I am not 100% sure, but I dont think the axles would cause that problem, I have 95 B-series axles in my DA, and they work perfectly. I replaced the seals in the used tranny I put in it, blew an axle moving from Washington to Montana, and just got one from a 95 Integra at the yard, and its working fine (About 7,000 miles on it).

use the seals to match the axles, and the axles to match the int shaft

Yeah that was it. I did all the work, the swap and the installation. I took it to the mechanic to fix the leak. He tried a 92 seal, even though I told him they where 95 axles and int shaft. It was still leaking, so I took it back and told him to get 94+ seals. That was it. It is all fixed.

Thanks for the help

Cliffnotes: Use the same year axle, int shaft and seals combo.
