91 CRX Si help!! engine messing up big time.. no one knows why :S
i have a 91 crx Si.. orginal engine had 213k miles on it and had some ticking/knocking.. i knew i had to replace the engine soon.. right before it started ticking/knocking i put an ebay performance chip in the ecu.. bad idea i know.. raced a friend of mine on the freeway, and thats when the ticking began, and it just got worse.. that said, the fuel pump then went out on me, i replaced it and i have plenty of fuel preasure. it started sputtering a bit after i got the new pump installed. and i was told no big deal, just got some air in the line.. later that night i drove it into town to the carnival and a concter, left to give a few friends a ride home and then head back into town and pick up some other people. thats when it started sputtering really bad.. did i mention that i have a stock pm6 ecu in the car now? i replaced it after the ticking started.. anyways. it just got contiunusly worse to the point where i had to call a tow truck at 2 am.. in the middle of trying to start the car as many times as i did.. i noticed that the knocking got worse as well. a friend of mine who used to have a 88 crx HF gave me his stock engine that he still had after doing a dohc zc swap into it. so i put that in the car.. took the Si manifolds and computer and used those on the hf short block, also the dizzy.. theres no knocking or ticking from this engine, but it still sputters really bad.. ive replaced the coil and that helped a little but not much.. it was throwing codes 7 and 10 which were the TPS and the IAT sensors.. so i changed out the Si throttle body for the HF throttle body.. still no difference.. i dont have the money to take this to a mechanic.. and all my friends have no idea whats going on with it.. ive checked the manaul, and i cant find anything.. anyone have any idea whats going on that would be awsome.. thanks

can you give us your life story also 
Ok first if your running the pm6 ecu on a 8 valve motor it will run like ----. I dont care that you have the manifold,ect that motor needs the pm8 ecu. Install the pm8 ecu or buy one and try again. I have tried runnin the hf 8 valve motor on a pm6 just ran it horrible sputtering etc. Try it and post in the right forum next time

hey man thanks. sorry bout the whole life story stuff but i wanted to be exact with it.. this is a general top forum wasent it? thanks for the help though.. that makes sense. late

ive actually got the origanal pm8 for this engine, the guy who owned the HF crx that the engine came out of, sold it to another friend of mine who had to use the stock pm8 ecu with his dohc zc.. i got him to trade me hah. i put it in, and it ran SOOOOOO much better.. but im thinking that the coil is still messed.. im working on getting spark back now. i drove my car to a friends house and it died.. so ill be over there tomarrow, thanks for the tip about the pm6 vs pm8 with the HF engine.. helped a lot.

okay, i got the stock pm8 for the HF engine.. the dizzy works, but only sometimes.. everything tests okay.. the only thing i can think of now is there is a ticking relay under the dash, i just checked the book and it says that its the PGM-FI main relay.. im thinking that might be the problem.. i didnt see anything in the other forums that helped me out with that, im just going to change it.. anyone ever have that problem before an can back me up on it that'd be great.. thanks. next time i post, my car will have been fixed and ill let ya know what the hell was wrong with it hah.

ive checked the dizzy a million times.. all connections.. everything tests okay.. hopfully its the relay.. thats my only guess i have left.. if it is, ill get it fixed tomarrow.. guess i lied cuz i havent got it fixed yet. thanks for the input tho
