89 Civic Si ignition problem.
OK guys I dont know where I should post this, so here goes. Here's the deal. I just put another a6 in my Si. Only 100,000 miles on it. I had to use my stock flywheel and tranny. Now, this has nothing to do with my current problem...
I bought the car, The door handles were shaved, and poppers installed. Instead of purchasing a door popper kit, the guy bought an alarm kit, and wired the doors to the lock and unlock terminals on the box. Needless to say, there is some hellified wiring going on under my dash. They have 2 relays that work to pop the doors. Each relay has 2 constant hot wires, one wire that is activated from the box, and one going to the door. Then, the hot wire for the alarm control box is connected to a hotwire on the fusebox.
OK. I have installed a flipdown, and PS2 in my car. flipdown is hooked to the fusebox.
When I got the car back, my brake lights did not work at all. The power wire going to the rbake light switch was bad, and I had to bypass it.
While I was driving home from the shop, my tachometer (stock) died, as well as the temp gauge. This turned out to be a blown fuse., I replaced it and had no more problems witht hat.
Now, I turn my ignition to the "on" position, and none of the lights in the dash are on, neither my CD player. When I turn the key to the "start" position, the car will crank, but as soon as i let the key go, and it flips back to the "on" position, the car completely dies. If I hold the key to the "start" position, the car will keep running.
YHesterday was a hot day. About 105 here. I noticed early in the day, that my steering column above my ignition wiring was smoking. I thought it was serious heat and dust. Later on, there was a good bit of smoke coming form the cover, so I decided to remove the cover and watch. It did not smoke again, but the car is now switching off as I mentioned before.
Around mid-day yesterday, I was riding about 60 mph, and the car died on me. I turned the key, and it cut back on. I pulled over to the side of the road, and had a blown fuse. I replaced the fuse, and the car started back up, and ran like a champ. I went to advanced auto yesterday to talk to a friend, and when I went to leve, the car would not start. I checked all fuses., All were fine. No blown fuses. No disconnected wires.
Now, WTF is my problem here
??
Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

So you had electrical items installed in your car, then had problems with the electrical system in your car.
Sounds like the shop that did the work is trying to light your car on fire. Bring it back on a flat bed.
