do you think that i would actually drive the car everywhere set to make 300+hp? get a clue man, the engine can do it as long as you are smart and know what you are doing but it wont last you if you drive it around every day boosting and are at wot. the car can be driven around the streets with 8-12psi daily wiht smart tuning and on race days bump it up (add some good gas) and you will be fine if you know how to set it up....

How long do you think your motor would have lasted boosting 8-12 psi daily and whatever psi at the track? My setup will be very similar to yours and I would be worried as ---- running 300 hp every once in a while on my stock motor. So let's say I have you tune my car for 300+ hp on race gas for the track, I should be fine and not have anything to worry about? This guy wasn't very specific so maybe he did mean 300 hp daily on a d16.

8-12psi is easy to be done daily with a good tune job, you can hit 300 for every now and hten race on race gas.. remember i never tuned my car man so i could of made more power if i would of sat there and worried about it... i was runing 18deg of initial timing wich to some is alot for turbo but i had the btm set for .25/lb of boost and ran fine.... and i myself would not tune any sohc's to my specs because if they are stupid and go and blow it up for some reasong being misshifts or too much boost on pump gas it would be thrown back at me for "he tuned it for so and so and said it wouldnt blow up" and not give the actual story... on the other hand we have tuned sohc's for over 200hp daily driven at that level and they do not have any problems.... my car ran around for agood 2 months at 12-14 psi on mixed gas sometimes straight race gas and didnt have any problems, it was not daily driven but was driven around when i had the chance to and was driven to and from the track(45 min drive at times). remember built bottom still doesnt mean that it wont blow, it is just as weak as any other.... you really dont even need that much hp on a street crx/civic since all you would do is spin through the gears unless you put some big *** tires on it.

this fool that started the post is a moron, so don't bother replying for his sake, this was his first post, his second was another new thread in the classifieds that I don't think got responded to. but as for the rest of the discussion:

jan, do you think you might have had an exceptionally strong block the first time around? I guess we'll have to see if that was the case when you do your second set up.

he actually dyno tuned his car and had a wideband, that is one reason he got to 300hp without detonation. most ppl dont even bother to dyno tune their setups, its all about tuning to keep the car together.

I need to find a dyno around here, or make my own out of 5 galon paint buckets. I have a link to a homemade motorcycle dyno, I'll get that when I'm back at home (at granny's now)

i didnt get to tune the car man, i just did a very very light tune that consisted of adding a little fuel pressure and making the whole band set at around -33/-32... if i would of tuned it, things would of been a little different.. once again the car didnt blow up because of bad tuning nor too much boost, it blew because i was runing it with a warped head.

I found the link on here earlier this year, looks like a good time. I am taking classes at my local community college and I've heard rumors that they have a dyno there, but I have yet to see it (I've been in one of the labs and it wasn't in there). Later in the semester I'll ask my teachers if there is one and if I can use it.
