What are the differences in the B18A1 and B18B1 blocks? Are there any at all? My friend is doing a LS/VTEC and will sell me a B1 head for cheap, and I want to slap it on a A1 block. Just wondering if the compression and everything will be equivalent to a normal B1 motor. I have heard the bottom ends are identical. Are they?

 

For all intents and purposes the block/heads are the same. It's rumored that the B1 head flows a bit better. The B1 cams are superior to the A1 cams for a fact tho.

 

the difference is in the dist and intake manifold.
