Re: XP SP2 help
sounds like you need to reset the registry. or just try to get the ---- you have saved from safe mode.
id reset the registry though before i reinstalled windows. but your internet may not work since you probebly have a prebuilt computer and your hardware profiles would be lost, so the computer wouldent know how to work your eithernet adaptor
so maybe just reseting the software security default and sam files. from windows repair would do it...

Re: XP SP2 help
yep, but you beter have the code you need written down before hand, or you'll just be staring at a blank computer screen
md tmp
copy c:\windows\system32\config\system c:\windows\tmp\system.bak
copy c:\windows\system32\config\software c:\windows\tmp\software.bak
copy c:\windows\system32\config\sam c:\windows\tmp\sam.bak
copy c:\windows\system32\config\security c:\windows\tmp\security.bak
copy c:\windows\system32\config\default c:\windows\tmp\default.bak
delete c:\windows\system32\config\system
delete c:\windows\system32\config\software
delete c:\windows\system32\config\sam
delete c:\windows\system32\config\security
delete c:\windows\system32\config\default
copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config\system
copy c:\windows\repair\software c:\windows\system32\config\software
copy c:\windows\repair\security c:\windows\system32\config\security
copy c:\windows\repair\sam c:\windows\system32\config\sam
copy c:\windows\repair\default c:\windows\system32\config\default
exit
computer will restart, you will be asked to activate windows, and it will be just like a fresh new install of windows without waiting forever to install xp. and you will still have your old files. If you have problems with getting on and the internet or audio drivers are not working. back up the files that you need and just reinstall windows.
