they are a pain to get set right, and the stock bulbs suck.
is it worth it to get some hids for aftermarket projectors?

I've heard mixed results from using anything but OEM projectors made for HIDs, but I would think that someone out there manufactures aftermarket projectors specifically for HIDs.

Personally, I'd probably try and salvage some OEM ones from a wrecked vehicle. Hyundais/Kias even use them now, FFS

I've heard these things generally suck in the stock halogen housing
, are they just as bad with cheap projectors?

True story. They shine all over the place, blind oncoming traffic, and won't improve lighting since it isn't being directed well. I have hear A LOT of good results in using TSX projector housings and HID's retrofitted into OEM head lights.

I hear using projectors without hid's are garbage. They say the light distrobution sucks.

Granted, my friend has them in his integra (the halos blew out ebay ----) and they work better than his stockers. idk. His ---- does light up the road. His low beams look like my hi-beams and i have silverstars.

probably because they're blinding everyone

REAL HID projectors have a glass lens on the end made to distribute the light evenly. Fake cheap projectors don't and so the light goes wherever the hell it pleases. If you've ever seen HID bulbs without some sort of focus, they are bright as ----, and annoying/dangerous to oncoming traffic. If I fire up the 600w HID in my room, it will light up the entire apartment (just with the ambient light) as well as the wall across the grass from my window.

Bright ----.

Whenever I do this, I'll probably call around some salvage yards and find a wrecked something with REAL HID projectors. Of course, more expensive cars will have better ones on average (s2k, tsx/tl/rl, lexuses (lexii?), bimmers, etc) with a crispy cutoff and good light distribution, but a cheap set from a kia econobox would be better than ebay HIDs in ebay projectors...

I rock 4 high beams in a set of glass ebay projectors on the crx.
My ---- is way brighter the my buddys hatch with oem housings and hids.
I just aimed them so I didn't torch anyone's retinas. O0

if your bulb housing has a cutoff, and you dont get ricer high K purple blue 10k lights they work good. ive had a set of 5k in oem bmw projectors and a set of 4300k with digital slim ballast in my cbr which has a great cutoff for a non projector housing

Re: xenon hid kits any good?

i have aftermarket TYC housings with projectors and my cutoff is really good IMO , ive never been flashed with highbeams and people i cruise with alot have never relaly complained about them. ive seen several aftermarket housings perform decently with HIDs in them, but factory halogen housings glare ------ all over the place.

just buy HID kits from me. I have some O-Nex kits. I have 6k personally in my car and I love them. Looks great. Works great. Friends with the same kit have been going 2+years strong. If you want a kit, lemme know I'll get you one. Won't be as cheap as those POS eBay kits, price will be roughly $150ish [for single beam kits, bi-xenon kits more]. Check out their website if you wanna learn more www.o-nex.com
