sounds like you broke something off the differential... plastic and metal

i can see the plastic beeing the gear that drives the speedometer, thats hooked up to the differential

and the wheels locking or not wanting to turn easily, that might be the spider gears in the diff... i cracked one last year at the track and drove around for a week like that until it finally ate ---- as i was turning into my street.

might want to tear the tranny apart, and just go to the junkyard and replace whats broken or missing, unless its cheaper to just get a new one

Well I was just trying to beat around the fack that I have to replace a tranny, Im sure its gonna be such a ------- bitch to drop and install

Now I dont even know what trannies will bolt up

The car is an 88 crx si, has a d16a6 motor and is using a 89-91 clutch specialties 6 puck clutch and 12lb flywheel

Do I need a crx tranny or will others bolt up with what ive got here?

you just need any d series cable tranny from 89-91...88 was a funcky year I believe so if you don't have that tranny in there you have many options, get a dx or hf tranny for cheap and get your repaired

Man it's a 4 spd, just give that ---- to him. Last time I check there wasn't a big market for those mad hoT quattro speeds. What does it take like 2 hours at the most to replace the tranny? Atleast thats what it took me in the old hatch.

lol don't ignore it like i did once. i had the same noise its one of the bearings in the tranny, i kept driving on it 4 days after the noise started i was driving home about 3 mins from my house, punched the gas going about 45mph and wham! the car stops moving and i hear grinding like i was trying to jam it in gear. look in the rear view and see my diff/ring gear a couple yards back with oil and chunks on the ground
