No, it only natural to like Toyota cars (especially Corollas) so why fight it? The Corolla Matrix, er... "pontiac vibe" is a beautiful mixture of Toyota engineering genius with Yamaha's cylinder head magic, that unfortunately fell victim to GM. Just like so many other corollas (prizms novas)

Yes its the same engine as the celiva GTS, i thought i read somewhere that yamaha designed it but cannot find it. So I must be wrong....anyways same engine yes

I know its an odd taste but I like it...i suppose i'm just strange. As for turbocharging it...i read more on the engine and its a mess. Sport compact is doing a project matrix.... this was part of the article

With the new, returnless systems, however, there's no return line to restrict and fuel pressure doesn't change with manifold pressure any more. The regulator controlling fuel pressure is all the way back in the fuel tank, and there's no easy way to make it change with boost. In order to use a rising rate regulator, XS had to convert to an old-style manifold referenced return line system. The complications don't stop there, either. Even with a re-routed fuel system, the ECU still thinks the fuel pressure will be constant, so the entire fuel calibration, even off boost, is wrong with the new system.

That sounds like a biach

Its not.. you have to do that fuel setup in quite a few cars(like my neon). you just disable the stock regulator and replace it with a rising rate regulator like a vortech SFMU or similar and put in a higher volume pump or a booster pump.

Thank you thats some good info. Allthough I dont understand it without really looking at it, it really doesnt sound bad at all. I was thinking you could probably use an SAFC or an Emanage as well to change the fuel curve....that'd probably be better than rising rate anyways.

I dunno guys this week has giving me some hard thinking, I'll be out of school in may and probalby have a good enough job. Truth is I'd rather save up for a house and pay off some of my large college debts than buy a new vehicle. Plus I do love my sunfire, I suppose I just cant help but like these things.

I'm actually really surpised this post had this much attention, I wasn't expecting that.

I (and by I I mean my wife) have one. She wanted one so bad, and I told her the only way to get one was with the GTS engine. I am pleasantly surprised with it. The likes:

It can carrry all of your ----. We drive back and forth to the east coast a cuople times a year, and we can carry about 4 times as much ---- as with my 99DX. The power is pretty good, the suspension is nice and tight, and the shifter is fun to throw around.

The dislikes:

The shifter is really notchy. You gotta rev the ---- out of it to get into the good part of the power band.

when we are ------- around on the street the vibe hold up well against me at 5 psi. Now that I am at 8psi there isnt really much of a contest.

I think about as much power as can be made from that engine has already been wrung out of it without major modifications. Keep in mind that thhey offer a base model now with a ~180 hp blown motor. That may be a better bet, as it will be set up better for positive pressure, and it would seem likely that an aftermarket pully will come out so you can up the boost.

airtonics,

we love you man, but a vibe? I'm not catching good vibes about this idea, maybe for straight line, but that tall body can't handle worth my left nut
