b16's are definetly not worth the cost. In our town there is a 240 with the silvia engine swap and my buddy raced him twice in his 92 civic hatch with the gsr engine swap and they stayed neck and neck the whole way (until I passed them both with my f22a running 10 pounds on a t25). But the b16 is ok but not really worth the money. My advice is to build up your engine with money you would have spent on the b16 and then run the ---- out of b18's and others with a turbo kit.

no no no.. what i mean is my d16a6 has i/h/e GUDE CAM, lightened flywheel. probably only makes what.. 20hp less then a 100% stock b16.. which to me is not worth the swap.

i'll go against the grain and say i loved my b16 swap when i did it. It was plenty fast i used to walk all over my friends gsr. it ran 14.2-14.4 with intake and exhaust even with crappy auto cams. but I know when my b18 is done it will rock my b16 but i still think the b16 is a good steping stone from d series.

the funny part is, an LS/V isn't that muh more expensive then a b16, (what $500 more if you look hard enough?) you'd spend that much on bolt ons for your b16 anyway.

i agree, everyone wants a b16 and expects their car to run 13's. IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN! if you take a car with a stock b16 and any stock d series, the b16 is gonna smoke the d. so it just depends on what you want. yeah, a built, boosted d series will spank a STOCK b16, but a built, boosted b16, will spank a built, boosted d series. so all and all, it's good investment even if you can't afford to boost it right away, when you do boost it, it will have more power than if you just stuck with your d series to save money. like i said, it depends on what you want. i've never had a d series, but i had a b18b, and then got an si with a b16, the b18b felt like it pulled harder in lower rpms, but after about 4500, the b16 takes the b18b hands down.

yea but for as cheap as a b16 is ---- its worth the cost of the b16 just for the vtec head later downthe road when you do a lsvtec

i think i payed 500 for my second b16 500 bucks for a long block is well worht the money especily when you get a complete dohc vtec head.

yeah, definitely, once you get the whole swap in, replacement longblocks and or shortblocks aren't going to cost that much, it's just paying for the whole swap at first that's gonna cost, but after that, what's the most you'll need? a block?

It depends what you want. If you want a super fast car with a stock motor, swap in a GSR, or something bigger than the B16. But the reality of it is, is that the B16 is one of the most capable motors Honda ever built. If you want to spend some more money on building it up right, the B16 is an excellent choice. It all just depneds...
