^^^ Actually I've seen it done but they were running a reduction gear set at a 10:1 ratio or there about. Still, it when through an entire 20lbs tank of LPG in like 18 minutes.

When i studied in ireland we learned about these in our thermodynamics class. Over there they use them to generate electricity. It used a standard automotive turbo and was connected to a smiple generator.

A standard auto turbo is not going to have a very long lifespan if you slap a gear on one end of it and try to drive a generator. I don't care how much you change the gear ratio.
