Wood Powered Turbo !!!
Apparently photobucket doesn't support porn.... I should have read the terms of service (sarcasm, I knew it wouldn't last... I'll post em up again eventually)
Thought this was kinda interesting.... Different way to use a turbo eh? Here's the setup http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...mall_small.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...and1_small.jpg And a short Vid... http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...weredturbo.jpg Main Page http://www.gas-turbines.com/nt6/index.html#videos Lots of neat pics http://www.gas-turbines.com/nt5/index.html Link to test fire http://www.gas-turbines.com/nt5/nt5.mpg |
Re: Wood Powered Turbo !!!
Mark Nye is a maniac. I've been waiting for the NT6 project to get posted for some time. Has anyone here built one?

Re: Wood Powered Turbo !!!
We go a new test cell at base where for the jet engines. Just the sound is amazing. I'd like to build a homemade gas turbine. would be fun

Re: Wood Powered Turbo !!!
Thats cool, but what's the point?

Re: Wood Powered Turbo !!!
It's probably one of those things you do for a college class or something.

Re: Wood Powered Turbo !!!
There is no real piont other than as a hobby or a project ot learn more about thermo-dynamics. I have seen some people successfully apply these engines to vehicles.

Re: Wood Powered Turbo !!!
I think the point is to show an easy source of energy. ie electricity
|
Re: Wood Powered Turbo !!!
These engines produce no electricity. They are not an efficient conversion method. Way too much thermal losses and too high of a brake speciffic fuel consumption to work well for that application. But they are LOUD and produce a lot of heat. After all, how sweet would it be to say "I have a jet engine in my garage"

I've heard some guys talk about attaching the other end of the shaft to a generator to make power. But tough guy has it right with what he said: "These engines produce no electricity. Re: Wood Powered Turbo !!!
you couldn't use the a standard turbo..not made to be used as a turbine generator...and hook it up to run a generator..the shaft just isn't strong enough.
