why looking at peoples turbo pics, I have seen that no one is using a air filter on there turbo, Isnt this bad?

They probably just didn't have it on yet.

I ran without one for a while. My turbo paid a hefty price for it. :'( Not a very good idea.

lol, like on the Greddy kits hahaha.

You don't have to. I like to mount the filter away because I don't like to suck up extra heat around the turbo.

Yep. Greddy invented that pipe. ;)

I don't want to suck in hot air that has just passed thru the radiator either. Mounting it on a pipe so that it is behind the headlight, and even better with a shield/box just makes more sense.

What kind of screen are you talking about? Anything that doesn't have a very fine mesh, like the cotton filters, doesn't seem like it would work as well. :-\ You're not using a piece off your screen door are you?

I used a piece of silk once. I put it on and forgot about it. A few hours later I went to go somewhere and my car wouldn't rev past 3000rpm. I couldn't figure it out. I got back home and was looking around for unhooked plugs or something and then I saw the silk screen and realized that had to have been the problem. Sure enough... :-[

i would never run any setup without a filter, its only like a 1hp loss at most, and my turbo is worth way too much to risk it

filters are for pussies, they keep out the vitamins and minerals that the turbo needs, like dirt and rocks and squirrels.

I figured that my motor would blow up way before the turbo was damaged by dirt. :-\

Haha, I got lucky. My motor blew before I had time to completely destroy the turbo. ;D

I just use a small K&N that is intended for a 4-wheeler. It's the only thing that fits.

Had a filter on it, but it's too big.
I'm going to the bike shop to look if they got one
