They probably just didn't have it on yet.

I ran without one for a while. My turbo paid a hefty price for it. Not a very good idea.

lol, like on the Greddy kits hahaha.

You don't have to. I like to mount the filter away because I don't like to suck up extra heat around the turbo.

Yep. Greddy invented that pipe.

I don't want to suck in hot air that has just passed thru the radiator either. Mounting it on a pipe so that it is behind the headlight, and even better with a shield/box just makes more sense.

What kind of screen are you talking about? Anything that doesn't have a very fine mesh, like the cotton filters, doesn't seem like it would work as well. You're not using a piece off your screen door are you?

I used a piece of silk once. I put it on and forgot about it. A few hours later I went to go somewhere and my car wouldn't rev past 3000rpm. I couldn't figure it out. I got back home and was looking around for unhooked plugs or something and then I saw the silk screen and realized that had to have been the problem. Sure enough...

i would never run any setup without a filter, its only like a 1hp loss at most, and my turbo is worth way too much to risk it
