Basically, and the fact that the cleanliness of it scores point's. You don't notice it, but it makes everything blend a lot better, you're eyes aren't attracted to any certain blemishes.

Re:why do people paint there engine bay black?
Iwas planing on painting mine black.
cuz if I got my car painted another color,
the engine bay might be teal.
I wouldnt want to fork out the dough to pay someone to pull everything and paint the bay.
so i'll pull everything and paint it myself.
chances are I wouldnt be able to get(or want to pay the $$ for) custom paint that matches my exterior, so i'd just pick BLACK, cuz its a good neutral color, white or grey would look kinda wierd.

with the dark black background, all the chrome and aluminum peices stand out, makes everything look better. but not everyone does it. most "show" cars paint the engine bay the same color as the body.

Black is good at hiding impervections and oil, but when you're like me..I do a lot of wrenching at night, it hides some hoses to.....hahahahaha. sometimes very difficult to see if you havent got a lot of light.
The best way to go is to pull the motor of, but you can tape everything though and do it with a hand and brush. Because then you have less chance of spraying other components if you were going to spray it on.
