Who wants a Job??? I need someone who REALLY wants to work...

Well, the business has really been expanding the past year since leaving the gas station...I moved it completely into my house and my business doubled. Just last month I have now expanded into a 1500 sq ft Industrial facility with an office space consisting of ~500 sq ft. We should have the dyno installed by the beginning of August.

I have so many loyal and repeat customers now, along with the new ones that come in daily (for parts) that I just cant keep up...not to mention how many tuning appointments I have that take up a good chunk of my time. I recently hired my third employee and well I'm just not quite sure he is going to work out completely so I need to hire my fourth.

I need someone with the following qualities who WANTS to work, WANTS to learn, WANTS to show up each and every day and possibly make this a fairly lucrative career for themselves.

Good phone skils and customer service
- This means you answer a question without more than one "um" in your sentence use and you can be friendly and courteous when even the most annoying customer in the world is asking the most rediculous question. You need to have patience and understanding and you need to have confidence in giving a proper answer to noobs, enthusiasts and shops around the world...no matter what their skill of the english language may or may not be.

General Overall Automotive Understanding specifically when it pertains to Honda/Acura
- You need to know what a timing belt and cams are...and hopefully where the dip stick is located. You need to know what a Check Engine Light is...but you dont necessarily need to know how to check it...that I can teach you. You need to know the basic difference between a 4 cyl motor and a V6 and on and on...

You need to know how to use a computer
- You need to be able to type faster than 3 words per minute and you need to be able to construct a legible email reply, with proper punctuation, spelling and grammer without too much struggle. You dont need to be a wordsmith with an endless vocab, but you should be able to get a clear point across in a letter format without cornfusing someone worse than they already were. You need to know what the internet is and you need to know what GOOGLE is...you also need to know how to find my site on the vast space that is the interweb.

- You need to be HONEST
- You need to be willing to WORK HARD
- You need to know how to ask QUESTIONS when there is something you dont understand and you need to RETAIN that knowledge once its explained to you
- You need to be SELF MOTIVATED, which means I cannot always find things for you to do, you need to FIND CONSTRUCTIVE activities to do when there is down time or you need to ASK FOR DIRECTION if you really cant find something

I do have benefits, paid vacation days and healthcare coverage are available after a certain time worked.

I am willing to pay top dollar for the right person.

If you have any of the following skills, it would be a huge benefit:
- Fabrication/Welding
- 12 Electrical System understanding
- Turbo Kit design
- Motor swap experience and wiring
- Dyno Operator
- Legitimate Customer Service and Sales Experience (in any field)

If you are in my area or willing to commute to 07456 (Ringwood, NJ)...please send me a RESUME with cover sheet on why you want the job or think you might like to work for Xenocron Tuning Solutions.

Please EMAIL this to me...

chrisharris -AT- -------------

Daily duties in the office will vary from answering phones, replying to emails, quoting pricing for retail and wholesale customers, packaging and shipping orders, cleaning the place up, running errands, etc. As for the shop...it depends on your aptitude for learning and what you already might know.

I am also contemplating taking on a Summer Intern if you have absolutely no usable skills but want to learn and have some free time this summer. There are possibilities of getting paid even as an intern for the right person.

I am posting this here because I love this site...and I would prefer to find someone with the same roots :8

LOL I met JD in Indy a few days ago and talking to him kind of settled my opinion of my acutal knowladge down a bit though. I think if I could gain half the car knowhow he has in five years or so I'll be doing good.

That's how just about every company does it out here. Then they sit back and can't understand why nobody wants to work for them and nobody busts their ass and nobody even cares to show up for work. :l

Good luck trying to find a good employee. From my experience, people are ---- and don't want to have to work hard for money. Employees are ---- and employers are ----. It's a pretty even trade. I think you would have better luck finding a ~18 year old kid with -0- working experience and TRAIN him to be a good worker. Chances are if the kid has worked before, he has already learned shitty work skills. :l

My thoughts exactly. College owns me. And It'd help if I were a tad closer. I'd say I fit the bill well for this job. Hope you find someone good. Hard workers are difficult to find. I've worked around enough lazy fucks.

-SKUM- 06-15-2007 06:21 PM

Re: Who wants a Job??? I need someone who REALLY wants to work...

good workers are hard to come by, but if you pay/treat them right, they wil stay with you for awhile. Thats what I learned from our biz. It takes alot of time, money, and effort to train sombody right, then you find out that they arnt worth a ----, and you just wasted all that.

I 2nd the west coast shop, have Dave run it.......... ;)

Chris Harris 06-15-2007 06:47 PM

Re: Who wants a Job??? I need someone who REALLY wants to work...

Yes good workers are hard to find...thank god my one worker is excellent, picks up on everything I ask him to do and rarely asks the same question twice. Yes he had growing pains too...but as he got better, so did my ability to be able to pay him more (and I did).

I worked in corporate America for nearly 6 years after graduating from a 4 year college...I know what shitty employers are like and hopefully I am not one of them. I just try to do what I would have like to see my bosses or company owners do...and not do what they did, and I am doing pretty well so far.

Just so everyone is clear...my shop is in bumble ---- North Jersey. Its all water, reservoirs and preserves...there is barely any industry here and the air is nice. Its quiet...and that the way I like.

BTW...there will be an HMT dyno day as soon as I get the new dyno in (once I get back from my Honeymoon)....WOOT!

HMTguy 06-15-2007 06:51 PM
