Re: Who here is a member of a union?
Hey Cray91, guess you've never worked for a Union have you?
Your fired even though you are the best worker, bossman just doesn't like you.
That is when you will wish you are in a union.
As far as the SLACKERS sitting on their ***, it is not the unions fault, but the management for not putting them to work. I'm not gonna bust my *** while a union brother sits around, I'm gonna kick him in the *** to get busy so WE can go home.
My monthly dues when I was a teamster for 5 years was 2.5 times my hourly pay, rounded up to nearest dollar, $45 a month when I left.
Crooked Union president, Imagine that in a Teamsters Union.
Now UFCW Local 1099 which my son is in charges more for dues, I haven't looked at his pay stubs in a year or so. But he is 19 1/2, Asst. Produce Manager for Krogers making $16 an hour working 45 hours a week. He still busts his *** not only stocking as he did, but ordering for the produce for the store, making out schedules for his team. Krogers is gonna pay for his college now as long as 1/2 the classes are business related and he maintains a B/3.0 average. Only stipulation is he has to stay with Krogers for one year after choosen class is completed.
Unions not abused, is like having lawyer when you goto court.
Another scenario.......
You're a line operator, running a machine at 100 packs of hot dogs a minute. Instead of fixing the machine, the safetys are bypassed. You cmoplain due to unsafe work conditions, ina nonunion shop you are fired on the spot, no reason needed to be given. With Union backing you have a leg to stand on. Sure you can still be fired on the spot but you have the union (lawyer) to fight for your rights to get back to work.
Most people who have never worked in a union shop have only heard the "lazy ***" stories thru word of mouth or the skewed media.
Folks for work for car makers.........
Avg. nonUnion employee for Toyota/Honda makes $30 an hour.
Avg. UAW union employee makes an avg. $29.50 an hour working for the Big 3.

Re: Who here is a member of a union?
Unions are half of whats wrong with the US today. The other half is everyone else who also walks around with a chip on their shoulder, and a feeling of entitlement in their heads. This includes illegal aliens clogging up social services they don't contribute to, welfare baby mommas who are spitting out children as fast as they can to increase their position on the government teat, and union members who attach headrests to their toolboxes so that they can nap more comfortably while on the job (saw this first hand at Delco).
I sure hope Obama doesn't increase unions. I hope he stops this bailout madness, and instead diverts all of that bailout money into infrastructure programs to reduce America's need to depend on foreign oil. All of those out of work auto assembly line workers could just as easily switch to building ethanol refinement equipment for the guvament, or farming equipment for growing raw materials.
It's a travesty that we allowed the Clinton administration to force lenders into sub-prime situations. It's worse that our government elected officials took our money to bail out the speculative financial institutions who issued those loans. Now they are going to take more of our hard earned cash and hand it to Detroit fat cats who will shore up their Golden Parachutes, and not be held accountable for their actions.
What benefit did you and I (the folks responsible for paying the taxes that are financing the bailout) see from the financial sector bailout?
Nothing.
And what will we see from bailing out the auto sector? More of the same, nothing.
Let the automakers die, put the bailout money into American infrastructure, write your congressman and make it happen.

Babymomma got sick of the system and signed custody off to me and the other ------- who never paid his child support or brought anything to the table. I feel bad for her because despite being a bright woman she operated under a decade of indoctrination in ineptitude and she lacks a clue. She keeps talking about getting a place (keeps losing a place), getting a job (keeps losing/quitting a job), etc. At some point, I keep telling myself, it's gotta click in her head that you keep your mouth shut and just do your job and holy ---- everything is okay... but she's used to a situation where you run around talking about how you can't do for yourself and somebody else pays your rent/utilities and gives you a debit card for the grocery store. It's been 9 months and I don't know what to think anymore. She's talking on/off about getting custody back but when you don't have employment or a place to live longer than two months it's kind of hard to afford lawyers or a logical legal argument for why you are a fit parent. How do you spend a decade plus of your life sitting around without some basic realities sinking into your head?

Unions = Legal Mafia
What are we in the 1920's, We have OSHA, and the EPA, and all sorts of other labor and enviromental groups that watch out for your ***. Unions were formed back then to protect workers from unfair or unsafe work conditions, Now they just blead the ---- out of their employers.
Just look at the UAW. The big 3 are about to kick the bucket and these greedy ***** wont take a paycut.
Lets see the logic in that.
Take a paycut --------- Company stays in business ------ ---- gets better later on -------- you get a raise= Everyone wins
Dont take a paycut ----- RIP Company------ you have no job or benefits ------- You are broke= You starve to death. and have to live out of your poorly built ---- bucket.

pardon me for being obtuse, but why wouldn't/can't the big 3 tell the unions to ---- off, and hire other people? i know plenty of people that would torque lug nuts on malibu's for 20 bucks an hour instead of 30.
