Who here has fought a citation?

got a damned citation tonite for failure to stop at a red light. so weak, the light turned red when i was halfway into the intersection and it was wet outside, clearly not allowing me enough room to safely brake with my 8inch crx rotors and rear drums. it was either cruise through the light and cross my fingers, or slide through and cross my fingers i don't hit anyone/anything and still get pulled over. :1

how many of you guys have fought citations before and have won???? please describe the situation and the outcome. this was in massachusetts, not sure if the state matters that much :3

I fought a citation for careless/wreckless and endangerment. bacially I was about to loose my license. I got a lawyer ($150) had to pay the court fees ($100) and then pay the ticket ($150) -never saw my record and I never went to court for anything. I give the lawyer the $$ and he took care of everything.

=========================

a ticket for running a red light...I would just take the points and be done with it. Shouldnt affect your record much.

plead not guilty and when you go to court & politely ask the police officer to reduce the charge to a lesser fine. it is the best thing you can do. if your state has points, you will be glad you got them removed.

A couple years ago i went to the courthouses for a field trip, and i went through the traffic one and people just went and argued their tickets and the cops werent there to argue so the judge kept reducing their fines and their charges.

no i don'y have any previous offenses, in mass since this is my first minor offense i don't get any surcharges because i'm still in the experience stage (which is the first 6 yrs having my license). although i dont get any points i also cannot get a credit point that you get if you have a year of clean driving.

the great debate is that im going to new jersey in a month for bmw training and they will probably schedule the hearing when im doen there which equals me driving back and spending probabyl close to 100 dollars in gas (which is twice as much as the ticket!) also it probably costs to hold the hearing.

the only thing is if i get any other offenses now its going to be surcharge time. im thinking having a clean slate might be worth all the trouble it seems its gonna be to get it. :S
