Whitey's Nitrous Install.
Well its been a while since I did a writeup on anything so here we go. I had some time and I wanted to finish my nitrous setup since the track is opening soon. I wanted to mount my gauge, switches and I also needed a momentary button.
This is what I started with: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00790.JPG The first thing I wanted was that the light to go on when I opened up the cover. I thought it would be gay to tie in the lighting to my gauge lights becuase than at night you would see my ash tray glowing. :-\ So I used a rocker switch from radio shack and had it activate when the lid was opened. Here's the switch in the closed/on position: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00795.JPG When its open/off http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00796.JPG Since I don't have slicks and 4:10's spraying in first and second would be a waste. I don't like window switches since IMO they have too many problems so I wanted a momentary button. I drilled and resesed my stock shift knob: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00799.JPG Drilling this thing was a pain in the ass, especially with the 2 small holes to run the wiring through. I definitely thought I would screw up my shift knob: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00802.JPG Didn't turn out too bad. I wish I could get rib of the H pattern so I could blend it in a little better but I don't think it turned out too bad: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00811.JPG As for the gauge and switches I made a templet and cut out a piece of aluminum: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00793.JPG Test fit: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00805.JPG And for the final touch a constant reminder of the golden nitrous analogy; "Nitrous is like the hot chick with STD's, don't hit it unless you can deal with the consequences." ;) http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00806.JPG Final result: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00807.JPG http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00808.JPG Nice and stealthy: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00809.JPG Here's the bottles, too bad I'm probably trading one of them for a turbo: http://www.hmt-tv.com/hmt/matt/Mustang/DSC00556.JPG Under the hood is nothing special but its still not done yet. I'm going to try and mount everything so you can't see it that way tech can't bust my balls. But I'm still waiting on some 4an lines. Let me know what you think. :6 |

Yeah but my license plate is all bent up and the car looks like ---- without it. And besides how often do you read license plate frames?

Was a direct port: http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1553371 ;) I'm using the solenoids and everything off my old direct port and now its just a single fogger on the Mustang. Thats why I'm waiting on some lines to finish it. |
