whats your favorite whiskey/bourbon

just curious if there were any bourbon drinkers out there

i been on a wild turkey kick since new years when i finished off a bottle of Russell's Reserve( made by wild turkey) pretty good stuff (90 proof)

Right now i am starting on a bottle of wild turkey rare breed this batch is 108.2 proof this ---- is straight out of the barrel no cutting it is comprised of 6yr,8yr, and 12 barrels
these are not for the fagots that like to drink mixed drinks to hide the alcohol these are meant to be enjoyed neat.

Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage aint to shabby.... Especially for being in the $20 Range. Its only 87 Proof. Its at least better then Gentleman Jack. ;)

I don't see how people can drink ---- like that. I'll take shots of vodka, maybe some patron, but I can't say it's a taste I like. :l

7th generation Master Distiller at Evan Williams is Craig Beam as in Jim Beam!! I wonder is this just a coincidence

Ill have to give that a try.

I was at a party and a friend gave me a glass of cuervo black honestly i hate almost everything they make but this was pretty decent almost like a bourbon with agave tones to it. and I also drank it neat

Boosted_StinkyNuts 01-07-2007 04:22 PM

Re: whats your favorite whiskey/bourbon

Cuervo black is just tequila aged in oak cask just like whiskey. Thats where it gets its color. I got really burnt out on Jose Cuervo as a teenager. They do make a nice top shelf tequila call Reserva De la Familia. Its about $120. Its a sipping Tequila. I got to taste it at a wine diner for work. Its ------- smooth!

As a side note; Cuervo black is targeting Jack Drinkers drinkers. We did alot of "Black and Coke" tie-ins for it when it first came out.

it was better than the regular vsop, i think it was e&j vsop special reserve, or something like that. I can't remember too well how it tasted because I was already pretty drunk on the turkey before I tried it.

Re: whats your favorite whiskey/bourbon

it's cheap, $20 a 1.75L, but it is wheat mash, alot smoother.

Not sold north of the Mason-Dixon line, a 18 yo girl turned me onto it......but she's a skirmisher, and when done shooting, nothing left to do but cleans guns and drink.........

thiggyperformance 01-07-2007 08:29 PM

Whisky and whiskeys can be compared if you are somewhat uncouth. Discussing bourbon along side whiskey is immoral. Besides, most small batch bourbons are disgustingly sweet. :-X

Here it is, bitches, and you'll probably never find a bottle:

well i thought i would include the masses being that most dont know the difference between the two. and far as small batch bourbons being sweet give me examples of them

Tom-Guy 01-07-2007 09:58 PM

Re: whats your favorite whiskey/bourbon

Small batch is a trade name for high end ---- produced by either Beam or Jack, I forget, but it sums up the lot of low-production overly sugary and soda pop smooth high dollar crap that gets foisted on the mouth breathing general public who thinks price = quality and masturbates to HT tech writeups.

Knob Creek, Booker's, Gentleman Jack, etc, crap. Bourbons are too sweet to be subtle and have the earthy flavors that suit complex palates liquors, they need a little raw/rough finish to bring them character and distinction whereas various whiskies have radically different characters with no redundant pedestrian traits suck as "caramel" or "refined white sugar", except to the sort of flaming homo that likes to drink pink wine in public and thinks it's haute culture. Makers Mark and Jack Daniels is about as good as it gets before it starts sucking ass, folks, don't get confused by the fast talk and the expensive looking billboard.

Then again, I'm a professional drunk unlike most, and I toasted the New Year with a '97 Brunello di Montalcino... at 7 pm, before I started taking shots of tequila. :-*

thiggyperformance 01-07-2007 10:23 PM

Re: whats your favorite whiskey/bourbon

ya know i disagree with you knob creek and especially bookers are not sweet and as far as gentleman jack dont even put that whiskey in the same category.

and besides Makers Mark is a bourbon and is a decent one too as far as jd is concerned it is straight ass only thing jd makes that is worth a damn is the single barrel.

so what do I know? I toasted the new year with Russell's Reserve. I am not a bar drinker thus I am am not a professional i sit at home enjoying what the fine state of Kentucky has porduced.

PS - seeing as Kentucky is full of inbreeds, I say we redraw the Mason-Dixon along your Southern border. In the future, I'll buy only Tennesee whiskeys.

"Bourbon is an American whiskey, and as such is made under strict federal guidelines
"http://www.greatbourbon.com/proof.html

Bourbon is a type of American whiskey predominantly made in the southern United States. It is made of a blend of different grains, with the bulk of the grain alcohol coming from corn, and grains such as malted barley, rye, or wheat making up the rest.
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-bourbon.htm

To be called Kentucky Bourbon the Whiskey must have been produced and aged in Kentucky.

To be called a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey all of the Whiskey in the bottle must have the above characteristics i.e. not blended with other Whiskey’s.

Well i am originally from Tennessee and now reside in Hawaii.
