Well if this job is a permanat kind of thing and with gas they way it is you may want to look into just a 4 cylinder has gas should continue to increase so 30 mpg will sound alot better than 20 in a month. Toyota/Nissan seem to be the way to go How many early 90's toyota/nissan pickups you see still rollin around kinda answer the ? imo.

If you actually need to pull some weight, go american, I love my s 10, but if you just driving around with not heavy stuff, Toyota is hands down, the most reliable vehicles on the road, not to sure about gas milage though, and definitely go for manual, automatic transmissions will be the end of me
