Whats the Deal with the Site?!?!?

I am sure a lot of you guys want to know.. in fact I just found out last night.. The CTO of my web server has informed me that this website with all the large pics & forum has caused other sites on his server to slow down and be very sluggish. The site is growing rapidly and is getting a bit bigger than I anticipated. He recommended that we move to a dedicated server.. Which is way out of my price range. I am not to sure what we are going to do at the moment, If I am going to be switching to a dedicated server I will need to get some serious funds coming into support it (as in advertising). Bandwidth isn’t the biggest issue I don’t think right now. Its mainly the software we are using for the forums. The software has been updated to put less of a load on the server, and we are being monitored by my host. So we are going to see how it works out.

Any suggestions or inputs would be appreciated,

thanks
Jeff Frank

How much is the dedicated server option? If I buy this house im going to try to get a T1 here and I may be able to let you host your stuff here on its own little machine.

donations are nice.. but I need some good advertising..

We may just try some new forum software if this doesnt work out.. If the problem still continues... the forums are gone guys.. sorry

Did you have to restore the forums from a backup? Because of the newer messages are missing now :-\

P.S. HMT won't be the same without the forums.. it would be like you guys installing a turbo then having to rip it back off and go straight NA! ???

Well, might I suggest a few good forum's...

there's the FUDForum, (not bad)
I run that one http://fud.prohost.org/

another good one is the tForum
http://www.tforumhacks.com/
I used to run this on my Old site..

and if you wanna break it down to the Old-Skool...
"WWWboard" from Matt's Script Archive
http://www.scriptarchive.com/wwwboard.html

the WWWboard is what they run on the http://crx.honda-perf.org/ forum..

it uses Flat HTML files generated by a Perl Script.
It doesn't use a Database, so it's a *LOT* less taxing than a PHP/MySQL Database Forum on a webserver.

The problem with PERL is the bandwith usage will double and push him well over his limit :(
