What was your hobby before working on cars?
So what was it? mine went from being a skateboarder for 4 years, getting close to sponsorship, then became a pothead for a year or two and then i began workin on cars and gave up smoking weed and skateboarding all together.

I've always had periods in my life where I would become completely obsessed with something and learn everythign I possibly could about it.
First it was dinosaurs when i was a little kid, then robots/building walkmans/electrical crap, then computers, then drugs, and now cars. I think I'm sticking with cars for awhile even though I'm also going back to puters. I'm going to southern oregon university majoring in computer programming. Eventually I'm going to try to make a datalogging/autotuning program because the variety of FREE software out there just doesn't exist. IMO uberdata ------- sucks a dick, whoever programmed that is a moron. It's always crashing and doing weird ----, and it looks like the GUI was designed by a monkey. Crome is much better, but no integrated datalogging unless you pay. :( |

yeah im exactly that way aswell, i get compltely obsessed in one thing at points in my life, i was completely obessed with skateboarding, then growing weed, and now cars.

Riding bikes, but i wouldnt really call it a hobby. Just getting around before I had my liscense. I wasn't into it like i'm into cars now

I raced BMX when I was little, then competed in the USASA, then played bass hardcore, then cars. I still do all of those things today (BMX, Snowboard, play bass), but the car gets the majority of attention.

DINOSAURS!!! well when i was little any way... I thought they were the coolest thing ever, then it would have to have been building homemade soap box derby carts... they were pretty crappy but they got the job done :y

since i was young i was into art. then high school happened
9th grade - mostly art, getting into cars (enter: Fast and the Furious) 10th grade - less art, little computers, depressed for most of it (was actually diagnosed, not that bs kind) 11th garde - no art, some computers, took autoshop 1 and 2 (learned A LOT) 12th grade (now) - very much into cars, a little computers and just recently starting to get back into art. taking autoshop all year again :6 if i took a basic automotive quiz now, and i got like a 90/100, i woulda gotten like a 10/100 a year ago. |

bikes skating computer programing guitar photoshop flash unreal tournament, a bunch of other random crap. I always have to be doing somthing or learning somthing new. i think im getting burnt out on cars anymroe but i dont know wha tthe ---- im going to do afterwords, and id like one more good solid setup to try to get it off my chest and mind.

I have been into cars for as long as I can remeber.
While in high school I played the drums and was pretty dam involved with that, more of a life than a hobby. I get into these different spuratic moments where I have these other hobbies that last for a few weeks....like I was dead set on building a computer, then I said ---- that and got into something else...I do that alot. My biggest other hobby right now other than my car is my fish tank. I have a 38gal saltwater fish/coral aquarium that I spend alot of time with. |

before cars was computers and drugs. i still use the computer everyday, but the drugs not so much.

I have always been into cars but before I was old enough to have one I was big into racing BMX and Skateboarding...........Kinda funny how that answer keeps reapearing in this thread 8)

Until I got my license I was into dirt bikes,mountain biking,rockets and remote control cars to name a few.As soon as I turned 16 i was full blown car guy and been harcore since.I kinda miss the other stuff but my car hobby is so out of control that I barely even buy groceries and any other hobbys will have to wait till Im making lots of money and can afford other hobbys.

since 9th grade its been about the same, cars,motorcross, ------- things up in the middle of the night out here in the middle of the boonies, and drugs although im not using it as much now, been so high so long being not high is like a high itself. :-\

I think my first hobby was working on cars, but when I dont work on cars i do enjoy wakeboarding and snowboarding.

Like others have said I have allways just decided to do something and get very into it, starting at about 8 I played roller hockey for 6 years, also got really good at "extreme rollerblading", then skateboarding, then bikes, then at about 14 I got my first dirtbike, started riding every day for 3 years. at 16 I got my first car (ive now owned 19) then at 17 I got landed on during an MX when a new guy way overcleared a double, broke the ---- outta my elbow, so now its just cars/boxing ;)

13-16 reading every car magazine I could get my hands on. Thinking that my brothers 80 Civic was the coolest car ever cause' he could exit the highway at exactly 50mph on to our gravel driveway, and not crash.

was into biking for 6 yrs, hense the name NBL kid,then i was into rc cars for a bit, and then i became a skateboarder for my highschool years witch started merging into cars and now i skate every once in a while, and i have always been into art since i was a little kid love to draw and now i work at a airbrush shop at six flags... ha thats basically it ;)

Let's see me.. elementary age- micro machines, hot wheels, legos middle school- the internet and learning how not to pay for stuff using the internet. R/C cars and this is where interest in real cars began. High school- still some internet, got into computers and LEARNED that there is a LOT of things you could do with it. You see I wasn't interested in how the computer worked, but rather what it could do for me ;) R/C cars and obsessing over cars. after high school before college- bought my first car datsun 300z POS. And then managed to buy a few more. R/C cars College- Bought more cars. R/C cars Now- sold cars, but am looking to buy another. R/C cars I've always loved cars I guess. I was sorta into video games, but only car games. RPGs piss me off. So there it is. |

Baseball, Basketball for the school (hate coaches so no more). I'm wrestling this year. I rode BMX, like just trails is my favorite. Only went once this summer. RC cars. Weightlifting. Girls :y

had a few r/c cars but far from a hobby always had a ton of bikes and had a huge bike junk yard used to build bikes for myself and other people model cars, did probably 20-30 of them tried to get back into them a couple years back but it didnt really take i like working on the real ones more sports and racing video games, some others like the gta games and james bond sports, played baseball and football, still playing football on the semi pro level started working on cars at like 10 or 11 when i got a vw beetle been into vehicles ever since had muscle cars off roaders imports and just about everything in between, im 23 and i estimate i have owned 20+ vehicles to this point |

10-16 was hard core surfing, skating and ------- tourist bitches at the beach every summer, mixed with a lot of pot smoking and beer drinking
16-19 lots and lots of hard core drug usage and ------- many random sluts, most of which were met through use of hard core drugs. 19-20 quit doing drugs and met my wife (girfriend at the time) and bought my first honda (integra). 20-24 cars and my family |

Always cars, had other intrests at times (skateboarding, bmx etc) but never strayed from cars, grew up in my uncles garage building ---- (30's and 40's hot rods) and any other stuff i got into always revolved around cars, video games(driving games) and sports, nascar, rally racing, truck racing, etc etc. Funny that i married a broad that hates cars, that makes things interesting at home, now both my son and daughter watch racing with me and love my car, the boy loves my giant ricer tach.......

i grew up in detroit, so the passion of cars is in my blood. i dont think it really matters if its a ford, chevy, honda,toyota, or datsun....from detroit muscle, exhotic italiano, to japanese reliability. i love them all for differant resons. carpassion was and still is my first hobby.

Little known fact: I used to run a skate shop. Long story short, but it failed as a business.
I used to ride Flatland 20" BMX. Never really got good but getting good takes like 8hrs a day for 100 years. |

Music. I've had two bands, did a few week long tours. Don't play too much anymore. I have 2 Acoustics, 1 5 String Bass, 1 short scale 4 string bass, 1 Acoustic Bass. And a bunch more I've sold over the years.
Also Still Photography. I have 2 Nikon SLR Cameras (1 Full manual, 1 Auto/Manual) and a Canon Digi. |
