What is your definition of a deposit
Alright, I had Crxxx1 send me a deposit of 300 on my 4dr I was selling and he told me he would come pick it up this following sunday and pay the remaining 1200. Now tell me if I'm smoking crack but usually when you put a deposit down on a large item or expensive item. If you decide to back out of the deal you lose your deposit. Being that the seller took that item off the market and lost all sales that could of happened. Now I'm being hit by paypal on a dispute. The options I have are
-refund money
-provide tracking number
-the buyer has already been refuned and I can provide proof of the refund
Hmmm these are some pretty nice options to chose from.
Here's the reason stated
:
i sent the seller the payment for a car i was going to buy from him. he never stated that it was nonrefundable. unfortunately i had to back out of the deal and seller would not refund the paypment. he tried to work out the situation but would not refund the money. i just want the money refunded.

Re: What is your definition of a deposit
If you didnt say it was non refundable then I think it is a toss up on the entire deal and how everything was worded
In my honest opinion I think the money is yours, thats my version of a deposit anyways, its like a reserve on the car to hold it
If you said it was non refundable then guaranteed the money should be yours

Well it can go two ways. It's like apples are better then oranges. I didn't state that it was refundable or that it wasn't. I past up selling it to another person after he paid me and lost that sale, but it didn't bother me knowing that car was good as sold and I listed the car as sold.

Account only had like 9 bucks or so in it and now it's negative. I past up the last track day of the year to be here when he arrived. So now I'm past the deadline to signup and now he backs out and files a complaint against me. Then tells me how poor his family is. Appearently if you've got money to spend on a shell and a trailer and truck to come get this a state away you must not be too poor. Damn this day is going great.

My roommate did this to a guy. Nothing was specified about the deposit being refundable, but he kept it anyways.
If it were me being on the "*** fucked" end, I'd probably skull ---- you at gun point if you tried to keep my money unless it was made 100% clear that my deposit wasn't refundable.
