anymore the newer equipment is like playing a video game. Joysticks control everything and little buttons on the joysticks. A little skill is involved with hand eye coordination, but like after a few weeks of doing it, you catch on quick. I operate our skid steer and backhoe when needed, but we sub out alot of our excavating work.

sho is... but depending on the company, i still have to operate the old ----. like today i ran a backhoe that i had to leave running all day because its next to impossible to start back up, it was even running when they brought it in on the transport haha. the lock for the boom didnt work, the parking brake didnt work, one of the front tires was low, and all they could get me was a 1 foot bucket. shitty ------- day since my laborer was running a wacker and thought it would be cool to smash a 2inch high pressure pvc water line filling a ~10 cubic yard hole in the ground full of water that i got to drain with that very same 1 foot bucket. ugh

makes me really appriciate the nice equipment with climate controls and windows.

'
although, I dont have any employees that stayed around, for what little money there paying. after the new year.. so basically, I do nothing, but endure what little cold there is out here..
hopefully, at the end of this month, Ill be taking my cco test, for a hydraulic crane, and maybe the lattice boom.... then off to the union, I go.

Uh, I thought you had an EE and worked in telecom, or am I confused? :l BSEE with minors in telecommunications start as high as $60K/year, that's $28/hr. It's a fuckton of overtime to play catchup with a base pay of half that wage.

all experienced based... no degree... probably wont be able to get my associates finished (need one semester) until next fall. Most telecom jobs (unless your working for a big company like att) just want experience of at least 3-5 years if you dont have a degree. i got all my experience doing satellite communications in the army so i dont need a degree but ... thats why if im lucky... ill make 65 this year...

my job takes care of me with full benifits and a flex plan so i dont pay ---- for medical or dental or any of that... then we get quarterly bonuses and i do work some over time... plus i get my first raise in next quarter so i should make at least 55...

this is not that big of a company but we are about to close a merge at the end of this month with another company and we have two other companys that HIG is setting up merge agreements... so hopefully with in the next two years we will be pushing saying good bye to our compatition caprock and maybe money inhouse will go up...
