If I didn't get that free 4gb nano, then the 80gb 4g...I would still be rocking my music on my HTC Hermes (not herpes) with a 4-8gb microsd.
Sound quality doesn't suck that bad (on the wing at least). You gotta remember its just a digital file being played, and both ipod and phones come with crappy earphones...the phone just has a significantly more crappy pair.

From what I've gathered, CDMA phones require a faster processor, I guess it has something to do with the network. In every case I've seen, the CDMA versions have faster processors than GSM versions with the same features.
Maybe you could use the earphones the hermes uses with the tytn. Wing doesn't have an audio port either, but it comes with earphones that plug into the mini-usb port.
The user interface for the ipod has windows mobile phones beat. Windows Mobile 6.1 looks like an interesting upgrade, but I think when WM7 comes out, it'll be great for media.

Re: What iPod software you nogs use?
t-mobile name / HTC name:
wing / herald
MDA Vario II (probaby not in US) / hermes
didnt realize that they had headphones that used the USB jack, my "tilt" TyTn-II didnt come with any
i used to have a 2125 or Tornado.... and it was honestly as "fast" of a UI as my tilt, but now i have wifi/3g/gps/big touchscreen/full keyboard... so its still an upgrade
back on topic
as mentioned, whats wrong with iTunes though? i know they try installing a ton of bloat-ware like safari/quicktime/etc. but what is significantly better about other programs? someone should just make a "light" version of iTunes.
