What do you think about this car/deal?

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car/245760469.html

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=602221

guy is asking 7500, says lowest he will do is 6500, im trying to jew him down to about 6k, think 6k would be a deal for that car? i know its auto so ill do a manual swap. and odds are the engine is ---- so i'll need another one 2500, trans 500, misc ---- 500, so for about 9k i could have a clean running black FD. the car is also salvage, im going to look at it later

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

I'd say it's too much... salvage title really brings the value down, but if you don't plan on re-selling then it doesn't really matter.

I still think it's too high with a clean title... the car is 13 yrs old, but I don't really know the market price on these.

buy the rx7 and do a ls1 swap

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

I was thinking the same thing. Awful high for 100K and salvage title. Are these FD's rare? there are quite a few around my way.

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

market is REALLY REALLY HIGH, say one with 50k on it, original, clean title, no major damage and paint is still good, will sell for 18-20k

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

6k would be a deal concidering it a salvage and a auto most people dont want an auto i say show him the money and see wat he says...

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

i can get a ls1 complete swap for 3-4kish, but then id need mounts which and driveshaft ---- which is like 1700, i could probably hmt some mounts, but i would have to pay for a driveshaft. we'll see how the funds are looking then. i just want to get the project car and start ripping stuff out, cause thats the fun part. this is the lowest ive seen a rx7 go for, (besides one i saw for 5500 that sold in 10 minutes =[ ). whatever i do it will be quick, my friend is ls7'ing his FD, so i'll either have to go ls1 on juice, or a badass rotary. but thats in the distant future.

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

I've seen LS1's go for like 5K for 30-50K miles on it and a 5 speed bolted to it.

*edit* just read Your post above. damn VA sucks....

my friends are telling me that is a good deal, from watching the market lately it seems like it. i'll have to go check it out and make sure that the frame is straight.

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

In your area? I'm sure it's a good deal. A buddy of mine bought an auto FD, stock, for like 7 or 8 grand a year or so ago. Ebay none-the-less.

I say whatever you do, throw the LS1 in it. You'll be happier than that rotary piece of faggot ----.

well to be honest, i like rotarys, but they dont have much longevity when you beat on them. i wouldnt be suprised if a coolant or an apex seal went out after your buddies tuning session.

um, ive got a few friends running around here that are running 13b's 450+hp daily drivin and weekend beat. its been running now for almost 5 years, and still strong. Its not the motor its the tuner. If I remeber right, the car was built for stupid cheap, cheaper than most people have in HMT kits for D16's. If Igy sees this, he might tell you a thing or 2 about it, he built it.

If you werent such a ------- dumbass you could have the same results.

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

Buy it...drive it to Michigan... sell it for double, even with a salvaged title they will sell 13K-15K. Hard to find clean cars over hear and the spigglets have to much money around here.

thats true,

but there are h/c ls1s making that and they'll run 200k+ miles.

stock ls1 with a s/c will run 200k+ miles

SkunT 12-13-2006 04:47 PM

Re: What do you think about this car/deal?

yeah, but this is scott. he wont drive the car for 200k miles, he would blow an LS1 up also...the list would go on. If you want a chevy built car, buy a ------- chevy. or dont spend $6000 to buy a complete car and then rip out the motor and the drivetrain that already has a slavaged title. Thats stupid. Especially when you can find shells around for little to nothing and put your homo lt1 in that.

LSX's make women take off their clothes faster than rotaries.

its not the jdm rotary nuts point of it. I think its completly retarded that your going to spend $6000 and rip out the ------ drivetrain. thats the point of the thread "should I buy this car" -well, my $.02, no. you shouldn't buy it.

thats like saying if you want a b16 sell your crx and buy a 00 civic si, whi cares want goes into any car, i seen a old skool mini with a fully built all motor h22 in it on some euro ----, thing was badass, id like to learn more about rotarys ive seen like parts from them before and it looks crazy as ---- how everything goes together and works, that ls1 would prob be more realiable anyway and beside the rumble of a v6 engine coming from a rx7 would make me wet and prob most people within a block.

One of the many joys of living in East Texas. I'm from Tyler; we had a couple of RX7's, a couple of NSX's, and a couple of Lotuses. Most of the "tuners" thought you weren't ---- unless you either had a mustang or a wrx.

i called the douchebag yesterday, he answered and i told him i was goign to call him back later and get his address, 20 minutes later i call back and he doesnt answer, so i blow his phone up with a call every ew minutes for about 2 hours, and the faggot still doesnt call me back, ------- bitch queer.
