Re: What do you consider a fast street car?
depends where im living.
in greece we find ---- rangin from twin turbo 500 hp wrx's and then we get 14 seccond fiat puntos.
here its sorta the same, when you can hang with a nice car, then thats fine.
a couple days ago i was with my brother and we where riding around. all of a sudden a brand new late model m3 pulls up.
so we raced him and we kept up with him a coup[le times. for some people that might not be too fast, but i asked my brother how much faster he wants to go and all he says is, if i can keep up with an m3 then i dont wanna go too much faster. i dont wanna kill myself or break my car.

Around here my mid 14 second CRX is ungodly. Most people have single cams N/A with VTEC. They all seem to think that a "racing clutch" and "VTEC tuner set at 3000 RPM" is all you need to be fast. They don't understand that having VTEC engage that low is a bad thing. It's really like a blast from the past living around here...circa 1997.
The other up and coming thing is putting an H22 in anything, especially a CRX or Civic just to be able to outrun my B16. When I told them any turbo in the junkyard would "fit" on their car their eyes got real big and needless to say we were all out at the junkyard about 3 minutes later throwing turbos over the fence (they wanted $50 for a blown turbo!). Then they got all pissed off when I told them the TURBO would fit, not the manifold, and that they'd need a custom manifold.

Re: What do you consider a fast street car?
Well where i live theres to many fast cars, it all depends on money also. Do you mean fast street car for people under the age of 25? or over. All the really fast low 12's - 11's and so on are owned by older guys with lots of money.

I don't know where the hell 15s is quick or fast or whatever, but I wana go there and steal everyones money.
My opinion
13s = a 60 yaer old woman could do it with a car from the dealer
12s = pretty quick
11s= a fast street car

Re: What do you consider a fast street car?
I think "quick" is being able to drive down the street / freeway and be able to smash on the majority of the cars around you. I think my NA GS-R is "quick" because most of the people I encounter on the street that try to go heads up don't embarass me. I wouldn't dare call it "fast" though. Fast to me is anywhere from 12's to low 13's. In a street car, this means, a reasonable amount of interior, pump gas, street tires, pretty much something you can do at any given time.

there is something to be said for a car that you can drive to get the groceries or drive on a road trip and if you happened by a drag strip you could drive onto the track and lay down a decent time -- that's a car that is truly a STREET car. if it gets into the 12's without removing bolted-down parts and without changing the tires, that's definitely a respectable fast car. and 13's is quick, given what i just described -- IMHO.

i remember when i bought my car, people running 13's at the track were really fast, and people running 14's were pretty decent.
