$500 purple beater, bad headgasket
headgasket- $39, 4 hours
rear end collision $2,500 (pAYD@y!!)
new rear bumper $40
Paintjob- $42
Masked off all the important areas, wiped down with wax and grease remover, and 8 cans of duplicolor truck, van, suv universal black later.
Tips for next time: Mask off one panel at a time, overlap spray, and get it as uniformly wet as possible without runs. I found that spraying the trunk wet and getting mist on the already dry quarters resulted in a foggy look. It is what it iz, yO!!

I painted it in the garage. It took me about an hour. I didn't sand/wetsand ----. Hell, I don't even wash the car. I just didn't want it purple anymore.
If you have the gun and compressor, I'd do a single stage red. ---- all that sanding/wetsanding ----, unless this is your pride and joy. In that case, I'd send it out somewhere, much like where the shuttle is right now.

I paint for a living too, but nothing with wheels on it. I think with the help of your friend who does it everyday, you guys should be able to do a bang up job in the garage.
