Is welding oil pans difficult? Can you weld steel to aluminum?
Ive got a perfectly fine oil pan sitting minus the fact its been drilled for a oil return too low. I've got a perfect sized piece of thin flat mild steel to weld over the hole with. Will that work if I take it to a guy that uses a mig? I think it should be fine, but I just figured I'd ask since you guys that weld like reading simple boring questions.

Or you can get two plates to block the hole (one inside one outside) bolt the two together and sandwich a bunch of JB weld in the middle for sealant. It aint pretty but it'll get you running till you get anouther pan

Lol, good ol jb weld! I think i'll skip on the jb weld this time though. I am gonna try and find some thick aluminum sheet metal and just weld a piece of it over it. Well see how it turns out Otherwise I'll see what the yard wants for a used one. Thanks for the replies.
