welded diff....

Has anyone ever driven a fwd with a welded diff, i been lookin for an cable si trans forever now and i picked one up from a friend who said it had a welded diff... i thought this was only for those drifters in rear wheel drives... so now i'll admit im a noob when it comes to this because i have no experience with it. but i figured hell for 40 bucks it cant be a big loss i could just pull a stock one out and put it back in and still have my si trans i wanted.

i really am only intrested in people who REALLY know about this ---- because i dont, i understand LSD's and how they work to a point, but its to my understanding daily driven is a no-no on a welded diff. for the fact they can lock up or what not.

i know some of the OG's know about this ---- so inform me plz. thanks.

What I have learned is that you will get tire wear alot faster

I would think that a welded diff would make stearing a lot harder on a non ps vehicle. Also much faster tire wear. I can't see it locking up on you unless something breaks off the spider gears.

welded diff=cant be driven on the streets anymore and will create super arms at the track. If you break an axle at the track enjoy the wall

I have driven a few and well there is better choices. Not safe

Everyone who gets to the drag racing level where an LSD either slips (clutch type) or chatters (gear type) knows enough to not weld up a stocker and they go straight to a spool.

You want an OBX if you plan on driving the car at all.

Re: welded diff....

With a welded diff the wheels will not turn seperately. you will squeal tires everytime you turn.

You would be nuts to try rockin it in a DD or a street driven car.
