Default Weekend project/Shop PICS !

Some of you may or may not know that i work at my uncles shop from time to time when he needs to extra help. It's more or less something i do to help him out becuase he lets me use the shop and all the stuff there whenever i need to and lets me work on some of my friends cars there if i want. He called me up and asked me to help him swap the tilt bed off of the old truck onto the new/used Chevy Kodiak that he bought. Here are some swap pics.

Old truck, no heat, no radio, not nothing. It's reliable but slow as hell. Altough with the 2-speed rear end it helded it's own up a hill. Notice were we had to cut off some brackets on the end of the frame rail. Overall this truck has pulled some of my cars around enough times for free so i couldn't say no to unlce.

Pic of the new Kodiak ready to go, this truck was a huge upgrade, air, heat, radio. Only has a single speed rear end but the fact that this one is turbo/intercooled will help out a lot ! We had to cut about 5 feet of fram off of the rear and we had my friend with a Miller Trailblazer stick welder come down and weld up some of the brackets to the frame. We don't trust our MIG that much or our welding to hold the weight when loaded up.

Here is a pic of the bed that we're swapping over. Nice bed overall could use some paint but face it paint doesn't hold up to long when cars are sliding up and down it that are trashed from accidents. The Truck barely fit between the post of the rack.

One more pic of the new Kodiak. My uncle bought this truck 6 years ago to swap over and finally got around to it.

Now pics of the shop. Here is the hot tank machine my uncle bought at an auction, it's also for sale in great condition ! We need to get rid of this as were running out of room.

The old mighty pipe bender. Great machine, it's crushes the pipe a little but hey when i can do all my exhaust work for free i can't complain one bit. It took me sometime to get used to it, now i can whip an exhuast out pretty good.

The Airco welder. Works good, old but works great for what we use it for, welding up exhaust that is. I think my uncle said he got it in like 1985 and hasn't give him a single problem.

Overall wasn't too bad, we need the power take off pump for the new truck to come in so we can figure out the hydraulic lines and the oil box placement than we can drop the bed on. I was whipped yesterday I spent the day drilling the holes in the frame for the brackets with a magnetic drill, that drill is awesome, but still heavy and takes some muscling to use. hopefully the bed comes in soon we can get it all wrapped up. I'm pretty thankful for the shop being in the family, it's been passed down from my great grandfather to my grandpa and my unlce decided to get into the business. I help out when I can down there. What do you think.

The white one is a International which is now for sale ! I think that the Kodiak may have a cat in it. The International is diesel not too sure of anything more I really don't work on them much, the international was amazingly a good truck, only problem was it needed new brake lines, but i know it's N/A.
