WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

I received this info from a reliable source:

Pennsylvania State Police will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy throughout the state starting February 1, 2006. The State estimates that 22 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 3 million will go to pay Trooper overtime costs and benefits. There will be 150 State Troopers on duty during all shifts patrolling the highways. Significant radar enforcement will occur along the I-70, I-76, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-83, I-84, and I-90 corridors.

Motorists traveling 6 mph or more above the limit will receive a ticket and every State Trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes.

Pennsylvania has activated 50 new unmarked cruisers of various makes and models for this pilot program to raise extra funds and meet mandated quotas . The Pennsylvania State Legislators dreamed up this program to help offset the additional funding required to hire 60 new Troopers.

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

so it'd be nice if they handed out tickets to actually inforce somthing rather then for a quick buck. stupid cops.

maybe they should go out and catch real criminals, how many stolen cars, break ins, violence related attacks go unsolved cuz they dont do squat. Cops suck the police force is nothing but a silent tax

werd...

also, you know whats real fun, havin a cop tail you on a local road (like 40 or 45 mph) and using the cruise control at exactly 1mph below the limit, hahahaha

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

Ya paying all those officers overtime plus 50 unmarked copcars so they can be asshats sounds pretty fucked up .

jacob 02-01-2006 11:48 AM

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

well potentially all those cars that are speeding could be criminals, the car could be stolen, they could be carrying drugs or other illegal things/people . so its a step forward

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

Most criminals or car thieves or drug dealers are smart enough NOT to speed.

They need to crack down on drugs around here, Butler High School is nationally known as "heroine high"... we're one of the most drug populated areas in the states... and all they're worried about is speeding.

haha Sinister, you went to Butler High School? I think one of my parents went there back in the day? I'm not too sure though, I moved to Seattle when I was a youngin and have only been back every other year or so to visit, I'll have to ask them next time I talk to one of them...

I got the same email the other day only it said California and listed California freeways. It was also "signed" by someone in the California Highway Patrol. :-*

Nah, I went to Slippery Rock, but I'm not far from Butler at all. I've dated a few girls from Butler... That's awesome though, small world haha

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

there has been a speeding ticket frenzy around Seattle lately... There are at least 7 speed traps that have been set up for almost a month now. There is one right at the end of the Aurora bridge, and its funny because everyone cooks across that thing at like 65, the speed limit is 40, so halfway across the bridge i slow down to 40, and the people behind me start honking, flashing their lights, then they get pissed and go speeding past me to make a point... and just in time to get hit with the police radar. So far these past 2 weeks I am 8 for 8 on people behind me getting mad, speeding, then getting a ticket... then getting more mad!!!

HELL YEAH! ---- got pulled over twice in two months, so i stopped goin more than 35 on rainier. so i dont give a ---- either i just slow down and let people pass and watch them get pulled over. 30 is just too slow for rainier you think? and as for that aurora area , i usually always speed there, isnt that where the bus went off the bridge last year or something?

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

I'll keep my eyes open just in case...rather safe than sorry i guess. If it happens to be the case though, trooper's will have a ball up by me then. I live near scranton where 81, 84, route 6 and 380 all kinda merge together. It's posted as 55, but most of the time everyone does 75+...even the cops.

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

lol might be true, I was on I-79 tonight and there must've been 5 cops on the highway from here to cranberry (about a 40 min drive)... usually you see 1 or none on that highway

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

I think the e-mail is fake. But here in Spokompton their was a article in the paper where the city threatened to lay off a bunch of cops and firefighters if they didnt raise our taxes, and in the article they said there was 30 something violent crimes that did not even get a cop to investigate it, but you drive anywhere in the city and there is a speed trap. I was listening to the radio one day and came across the Mark Ferman show (O.J.s racist detective) and he was interviewing the cheif of police and asked him about it and he responded that when they do speed traps it shows that they care about our safety. MY ASS. Stop the fucker stealing my ---- and i'll know you care fucknut.

Or just do the speed limit or 5 over if you have to speed. I have a radar detector and a phazer II but still stay around the speed limit because aircrafts dont use radar or laser, and thats how i got my last ticket.

it's nothing more than another way for the gov't to make money. it's a silent tax if you will.

So.. when's the last time the cops ACTUALLY put effort into a stolen car's investigation? It's a way for the police to make money (for the city) and nothing more.

HondaTuner 02-10-2006 08:12 AM

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

I have been seeing more of an abundance of more cops... maybe it's a coincidence, but there definitely are more out on the major highways.

Re: WARNING TO PA DRIVERS

Oh, we're covered up with them right now in WNC, but that's perfectly normal. During the precious tourist season, they hardly pull over anybody, but as soon as the tourists leave for the winter the local police and Troopers start pulling everyone.
