If anyone thinks they want a Flat color, but not black, they always have the choice of going GANGSTA' OLIVE DRAB. It looks sick on my whip, Y 0. also, your gona wana go over the car with a grease and wax remover and some steel wool to get all the wax off. then your body work etc. any bare metal you are gona wana spray paint with a good sealer. 240 on the palm sander is usually smooth enough for the final coat. (I did 80 and its way too rough, lmao)

Put your cans in a bucket of warm ass water before you spray. This heats them up and the paint comes out quicker and becomes more atomized. the label of the can should be easy to pull off at this point, remove it so it doesn't transfer any water into the paint. The first half of the can comes out real fast and will leave a nice finish, the other half will leave a more rough finish.

Tape lines are your enemy.

Thin coats

It takes about one mildly expensive can of paint per first coat on the right side and left side. one for the roof, one for the hood, one for the front, back bumbers, and hatch. then for the second coat, it will take half as much. This is for a 89 hatch back. its better to do the car in sections, as long as you mask off the previously painted area before you move on to the next. 3 coats is minimum, 4 is ok, 5 is real good.

go over the car with a blow gun first to make sure you get all the dust out of the cracks. I painted my car in my garage, and it turned out great. Do NOT wet the floor down before.

I used mat black high temp barbeque paint

This ------- ---- is durable as hell, not a single rock chip on my front bumper

I also used a spray gun so it came out perfectly even and only took me 2 quarts mixed with 25% paint thinner to come out easiers total cost was $36 Canadian including sandpaper and a roll of tape

i take it you bought flat black paint from a paitn shop and not the auto parts store. thats prolly what i'll do next time around. I'll borrow my dads compressor and buy a gun and do it right next time. one section at a time.

I bought it from Canadian tire, not in the auto paint part though, go to the outdoors/housing sections.

Was just 1/2 gallon cans of mat black barbeque paint for $12.99, only thing was that it had a 6 hour cure, I just left it for like 24 hours, serioulsny not one chip or scratch yet, not even where you stick in your key is scratched

Gravity feed adjustable pressure and ------ paint gun was $24.99 on sale
